instructions were easy to understand. assembly was simple. i saw sime reviews talk about the wood splitting, we had no issues, just dont try to tighten the screws too much and youll be fine. its a sandbox, not a house, your child wont get hurt if the screws arent super tight. the lid is easy and my kids are obsessed with it. all in all i am super pleased with this purchase. we added 6 x 50lb bags of Palmetto Play Sand. we assembled it ontop of a ton of chalk drawings, which is why its covered in foot/hand prints.
I bought this for my granddaughter, who just loves it . We have stray cats around so that's why we got this sandbox. It has built in bench's that fold flat so it stays protected from cats.
Looks great and easy set up. The bottom is a mesh material. We put in 550 pounds of sand and it's too much as we can barely close the lid. My 4 year old can open and close it whenever she wants to play.
Love this! It was fairly easy to put together, but unfortunately our drill is broken so we had to use a screwdriver the whole time. This was a bit tiring as a bunch of the holes aren't pre-drilled, at least it is a decently soft wood. I read other reviews stating that people used 750lbs of play sand to fill theirs, however I started with 500lbs and feel like that is plenty. 500lbs fills the box just slightly above the halfway mark. Also, please open the little black fabric package BEFORE you add your sand. I kept thinking I wish they had provided some kind of typar or barrier between the ground %26 sand. I assumed the black package was a mesh cover, super dumb lol.
Love the look and the benches on the sides when opened. The screen on the bottom allows for raun to filter through the sand. Requires at least 300 pounds of sand inside.
The instructions were terrible and pieces were not marked. Two main pieces looked exactly the same but about an inch difference. This matters because it you don't pick the right pieces the top won't close properly. AHHHH. Add a very frustrated/perfectionist husband and you get a big huge headache. Do us all Favor and label the pieces that look the same. Moving on...my set on loves the sAndbox! Cute little bench to sit on that even my 15 yr old can fit his long legs in (scrunched up). Wood does split when you start screwing in so NOT the best quality wood but very nice looking.
The assembly was fairly easy, took about an hour with 2 adults. Everything was labeled correctly. HOWEVER, this wood is thin and when you screw into the wood it split in several places. We glued up BUT we shouldn't have to do that. ALSO, got to the last steps, attached the top 2 panels (lid) and they were too large to close correctly- 2 inches too large. Someone missed that during quality inspection! We had the lid cut down to make it work instead of sending back because my granddaughter's birthday is a few days away. When we moved it to have the lid cut to the correct size, the screws striped on one of the hinges for one side of the lid. This is very flimsy! I would recommend for the price but just know what you are getting! I like the look and the cedar wood, this should deter insects hopefully. I wished I would have spent just a little more and got another brand!
Poor Quality, wood cracked, screws come out of hinges easily, support under benches fell off. Didn't even have a month. We took it out of our fenced in yard so our boys wouldn't cut themselves on the exposed screws or splintered wood. But it was nice while it lasted, as short lived as it was.
I thought this was great but now after it rains the wood warped.
As much as I want to love this I actually don't. Putting together was a pain. No boards were labeled, and the instructions sucked. Some holes were not predrilled so I had to drill them. And the holes that were drilled weren't lined up correctly so I had to drill new holes and on board was cracked. The top closure part doesn't line up correctly either. They over lap so they don't actually close! My kids don't seem to mind, but just upsetting that I spent over $100 and it's crappily built.
