Better Homes & Gardens 10.5 Gallon Trash Can, Oval Kitchen Step Trash Can, Stainless Steel

This was my first stainless and my first foot operated waste can. I was a bit skeptical at first but now I really like it. The lid automatically closes gently after you leave your foot off the pedal. Or you can manually put the lid all the way up if you wish to leave it open. I was using the standard size kitchen trash bags in my old can. When I initially tried to put one on this can, it was too loose and did not look good. Then I figured out that you need to gather the top of the bag and insert the top into the cinch hole in the back of the can. Now it fits well. There is a black plastic insert inside the metal can so you can just take the whole black insert out to the garbage if you don't want to use bags. The finish is fingerprint resistant which keeps it nice looking.

True. This is the perfect kitchen trashcan for me. My first impression is, it is well made. Oval shape fits nicely. Lift out inner pail makes for ease of bag removal/insertion and also cleaning. This pail has lift handle holes, air vent holes around the bottom edge so bag inserts easily, and an interior cinch to hold the bag in place. The stainless steel can is fingerprint resistant. The step on lid opener is so convenient and hands free. The lid closes slowly, without it slamming down. This 10.5 gallon can uses standard 13 gallon kitchen trash bags. They fit just right. Finally, the base of the can is slip resistant. This trash can definitely helps me keep a handle on the mess in the kitchen.

I was skeptical about buying online but I am so happy I did! We have been using a trash can that was tall and round, and only ever filled half of a 13 gallon bag. I was looking for something bigger, but this is the perfect size and because the can is oval it fills the entire bag! Not to mention, it has a soft close lid which is another bonus! I don't think I've ever been so excited about a trash can but I was so pleased I had to write a review.

I selected the Better Homes & Gardens 10.5 gal/ 40L Stainless Steel Oval Waste Can. I didn't think I'd ever find myself saying awesome things about a trash can, but I am so happy with this one. The best thing about it is that it's so classy in appearance. It's shiny and just beautiful. The trash holder is removable and that makes it easier to clean and empty, but you can also use a bag if you'd like. It has a step opener so you never have to touch the lid. The lid comes down very slowly and there is no noise when it shuts. I would have loved to have put this in my kitchen because it's so pretty, but it's a little small for all the trash we seem to accumulate. It was a little too large for our bathroom, but we have a small bathroom. We finally decided that it would be great for my husband's office. He deals with a lot of paper and files that need to be thrown away. He had a cardboard box in his office for trash and it just looked so bad because he's a bit of a slob. He uses this trash can now and it looks so much better. I'd love to find a larger size for my kitchen. I would definitely recommend this trash can to anyone.

Its the perfect height ! It doesn't get dirty easily, it has a pedal to push For the lid easy to put a trash bag in, keeps the smell of the trash Down too.

i like the can because the lid closes tight enough to keep odors inside vs outside of it. this is the 2nd one i've purchased. first one was a copper color that went with my kitchen better, but as long as it works properly, i really don't care about the color.

This is a review of the Better Homes & Gardens 10.5 gal/ 40L Stainless Steel Oval Waste Can. The trash can came packed really well. It was not damaged in the box but did have a defect on the top, which is visible when the overhead lights are on. It has a plastic liner for the garbage bag, although the design doesn't really lock the bag into place. So it's a bit of fiddling to try to slip the plastic insert back in and not have the bag bunched up all around it. This trash can has a few issues to be aware of. The primary issue is that it has to be pulled out a significant distance from the wall in order for the lid to not bang the wall when using the foot pedal. Depending on where it'll be placed, this may be an issue to consider. The other problem is that once placed, it won't stay in place. It slips further and further back on the tile floor every time it's used, meaning it eventually bangs into the wall again and we have to pull it back out. It has a soft close mechanism to keep the lid from slamming down. There's a handle on the rear, which is nice to pick it up and move it. The front of the lid is missing (isn't designed with) a plastic handle to lift it up manually, as with many trashcans of this type. The size is generous and it uses standard kitchen trash bags. We've given it a good try but have gone back to our old trashcan for the kitchen. We're using this one in the garage where the glitches don't matter that much and it gets lighter use.

I was so excited about this trash can. After all it’s fingerprint resistant, petal activated, and pretty. But after receiving it in the mail and unboxing it, I realized it has a few problems. First of all the sticker on the front didn’t want to come off too easily...I sat for about thirty minutes trying to peel each and every little shred of the sticker off so it’d look nice, but still didn’t have the patience to finish it. Second, I couldn’t get the trash can to open. I’m not sure if maybe it was damaged in shipping, or if more people have had this issue but the black liner can thats inside of the stainless steel can is stuck up in the lid of the trash can. I’ve spend the last thirty minutes or so trying to get them apart so I can put a bag in the trash can and begin using it. I finally gave up. I’ll wait on my husband and get home and see if he can get them apart. But so far I’m not too fond of this pretty trash can, it’s been a lot of hassle.

These are not good quality. Arrived scratched up, really really bad. Also, one won't open. So if they can get this banged up in transportation from Walmart to home then they won't last anytime in a restroom. One of them has some weird bubble wrap looking spots that will not come off.

I wanted to like this garbage can. It's a newer version of the one I have now. But it arrived broken, unfortunately. The lid is held together by a cheap plastic clip which would not stay in place. Instead of getting a replacement, I will be looking for a different can all together.
