Better Homes & Gardens 16" ADA Bathroom Grab Bar, Oil Rubbed Bronze

I am very happy with this 16" safety grab bar from Better Homes and Garden. With it being 16 inches long, it was easy to find the studs to mount this to. The instructions were very clear and all of the mounting hardware was included. I really love that it is a nice bronze color and not a 'sterile' looking stainless steel. I mounted this on the wall next to the toilet for the ease of getting up. Members in the household have some back and leg issues that tend to flare up making it difficult to rise without pain and assistance. Having this bar in place takes the pressure off of standing without needing any help which promotes more of an independent lifestyle. I am very happy with how sturdy this bar is and I have no worries about the safety of anyone using it to help themselves get to their feet. I plan to also put one in the shower. Again, I am VERY happy with this product. And a bonus that it is decorative too!

We need to install a few in our house to assist my disabled husband, and decided to test this one before purchasing more. The first thing I noticed about this grab bar is that it came in oil-rubbed bronze (versus standard silver) and so it matches all my other fixtures! Obviously, it also had to meet the necessary requirements, which it does—it's ADA compliant. Comes with screws needed and easy-to-read instructions. NOTE: You do want to screw this into studs, if possible. If not possible, go get heavy-duty anchors; but remember, stability is the key to any mobility aid. Upscale look for a bargain price. Recommend, and will be buying a couple more in different sizes for other places!

I really am extremely pleased with my new Better Homes and Gardens Holbrook Collection 16 inch Safety Bar Dark Bronze Finish. This product is so much better and stronger than other brands that I have tried. It is so much better than I was expecting. I really love that the finish is very long lasting, prevents corrosion, tarnish,or discoloration. I really love the Dark Bronze Finish. This is a sturdy bar. It looks great and works great. It matches all of my oil rubbed bronze accessories in my bathroom. My mother in law moved in with us and she needed something for safety. We have it right next to the toilet so she is able to be safe when getting up. It is a nice heavy weight and the perfect size. This would be a great addition to any bathroom.

I plan to hang this grab bar on the narrow wall next to my shower to use as a towel bar. It fits there perfectly and will match the existing dark bronze hardware in my bathroom. It's very sturdy, traditional looking and has a beautiful finish. This is a great product that will add value to my home.

Better Homes and Gardens 16 Grab Bar in oil Rubbed Bronze is big enough and sturdy enough for even my 345lb husband. But putting it up was definitely not for the faint hearted. You need to make sure that it is secured into studs. Which is a no-brainer. But the screws to attach it to the wall are to soft and strip easily and you end up with only one or two in the actual grab bar. I would suggest that they get better screws or when you buy it you invest in better screws.

This works for our home, because our studs in the bathroom happen to be 16 inches apart. Standard stud length ranges from 16 or 24. Before ordering I would double check the stud length of where you want to put this safety bar. The bar is well made from what we can tell, we had no issues with anything cracking or breaking during installation. Also it meets saftey standards according to the label. So far we have used a few times getting out of the bath tub. Our tub does not have a plastic shower wall or tile on the side, just the water proof sheet rock (just for reference). As far as installation, my husband is a handy guy, has all the tools on hand. You will want to have a drill handy, to make things easier when installing. He had no trouble. I looked over the directions and they seemed pretty easy to follow, both pictures and written directions. I was pleased when it arrived to find out that it matches perfectly with the oil rubbed bronze fixtures that we purchased from another source. It is smooth, and beautiful in color. It looks great on the wall I thought. As you can see in the picture should help give some reference in thickness of the bar. I will say, it is smooth so if your hands are damp you might find it slippery, but the bar is thick enough to help counter that but I am not sure I haven't tried to test it wet, I always make sure my hands are dry before I grab a hold of the bar to get out.
