I think it’s a wonderful piece. I’ve been eyeing these for a while now and finally had the finances to purchase them and I’m so glad I did. The only thing I would have preferred is soft close door (which is does not have) pairs beautifully with the 12 cube storage unit for a perfect entertainment center.
This shelf arrived and box in good condition. All the parts were supplied and was easy to put together. Looks great and works perfectly for what I needed it for. I am surprised at how sturdy it is for such a low price. Bought the rustic gray one, and I love this shelf!! I bought the other one of these that didn't have the door at the bottom and it isvery nice quality as well. Would definitely order another one if only I had room for it! Keep in mind it says 25 lbs per shelf which is really a perfect amount for my books and art supplies. I think anyone would be very happy with this purchase.
I could swear I followed the instructions to the T and still had to take it apart and put it back together 3 times. That was not the fault of the instructions, they were pretty great, I just looked at the assembly the wrong way. So my 4 stars for assembly is more user error than anything. I still have one to assemble and believe me, I will make sure I get it right the first time this time around. Very happy with product.
I truly love my experience with Home Garden. Their products are always beautiful and good quality. Shipping is very fast, and the furniture is elegant. I’m always satisfied with my purchases. They packaged it very well with cardboard to prevent any damage during shipping.
Great product and great value. I was able to put it together on my own. Comes with a safety strap to attach to the wall to prevent tipping. Looks great!
I love these bookshelves. They look really nice for the money. I don’t think that you could load them down with all books though. I’m using them in my sewing /quilting room.
The product is great, but it is a discontinued item. Mine had a problem with the door. The holes for the handle were drilled on the same side as the hinges. When I contacted the manufacturer to send a replacement door, they let me know it is discontinued and they cannot replace the door. So now I am stuck with an almost fully assembled book case. I can drill new holes but I will have holes showing on the hinge side as well. Disappointed that it was not advertised as discontinued so I could buy knowing that extra parts would not be available.
Assembly took me over three hours, and everything seemed fine until the very end — Step 25/26 — when I discovered that the manufacturer drilled the door‑handle holes on the wrong side of each door. This is not an assembly mistake; it's a factory error that makes the doors unusable unless you modify the product yourself. Walmart handled the replacement smoothly, which I appreciate, but I now have to invest another 3 hours to rebuild the entire unit. Future buyers should be aware that quality control on this item appears inconsistent. A simple inspection at the factory could have prevented a lot of wasted time.
I purchased the Better Homes %26 Gardens Glendale 5-Shelf Bookcase because I liked the design and light honey finish, but unfortunately my experience was mixed. While the bookcase looks attractive once assembled, the overall quality did not meet my expectations. Assembly was more difficult and time-consuming than anticipated. Some parts were not clearly labeled, and a few pieces did not align as smoothly as they should have. The instructions could have been more detailed and easier to follow. The bookcase provides decent storage space, but the materials feel less sturdy than expected. I noticed some minor imperfections on a few panels, and the doors required extra adjustment to fit properly. While it serves its purpose, it doesn't feel as durable as I hoped it would be. Overall, the finished product looks nice from a distance, but the assembly challenges and average build quality left me disappointed. It may work for light storage needs, but I expected better quality for the price.
We couldn't even get it put together due to how flimsy it was. I returned it bc it was very cheap and it definitely wouldn't have held anything properly. I typically like the better homes and gardens products and have the cubbies that are great. But this product was awful.
