Prefab furniture is never going to look like all wood (expensive) furniture, but this bookcase is more stylish than a Billy bookcase and was relatively easy to assemble. Took us about 2 hours to carefully unbox, count all our pieces, and assemble the bookcase. Another hour to dispose of all the packaging material, but at least they are carefully protecting the product.
I ordered this bookshelf due to the price and high ratings, but overall I was pretty disappointed. This bookshelf is OK if you're on a tighter budget, but I wouldn't buy it again for a few reasons: 1) Colour is off - I purchased the green one and the shade of green is a lot darker than how it looks in the product photos 2) Assembly was a negative experience - Some dowel holes were in the wrong spot, pieces were not lining up properly, particle board pieces were chipping during installation/upon impact of the screws going in and the instructions were partly wrong and unclear at times 3) Looks cheap - This is a cost friendly item, and looks like it. The top rounded part on the bookshelf looks and feels like plastic and the green particle board parts just don't look great. I've bought many other furniture pieces that were under $150 and they look better quality than this item I love the idea and design of this item, it just didn't really meet my expectations.
Ordered this item. Holes were drilled in the wrong spot. Returned it to the store. Asked him to refund my credit card and Walmart made me spend the money at walmart.com. tried to dispute it the credit card. Tried to get Walmart to refund the money and they refused all the way up to upper management beware of items you're purchasing on Walmart.com on credit cards and how you get your refund
I wasn't expecting much for under $200, but this thing still let me down. All of the reviews saying this looks premium are lying. The pieces don't line up perfectly, there are exposed bolts and there are warped pieces of particle board. This should be under $100.
I can’t even believe how cheat made this was. The shelves are not even veneer, they are some type of paper printed to look like wood. This is what was left after using green painter’s tape so my husband who is a professional cabinet maker would spray the shelf another color. You have to actually seek out materials this cheap. Please do not buy this, the materials they used are beyond cheap and there’s zero chance this will hold up against any use whatsoever.
I had to fight to return this and boy boy did that kill me! I've been eyeing this up for months and I mean months and was so excited to set it up… Low and behold it is all Particle Board. I don't know how it could hold any books let alone a shell shelving of books. Also, the top connects in the middle so that nice rounded top always looks a little off. I returned the whole thing because it was just a mess and many of the pieces were scratched so even if it got to i had to fight to return this and boy boy did that kill me! I’ve been eyeing this up for months and I mean months and was so excited to set it up… Low and behold it is all Particle Board. It's a piece of junk!!! It's made of particle board NOT WOOD! I wanted to put books on it, but that's not happening! No way it would hold books. I feel totally ripped off. I thought it would be decent since it was Better Homes and Gardens. It's not. I am so disappointed.
The item came damaged and I did not realize it after having built half of it already. Unfortunately, with the wood glue and having already assembled half of it, I was not able to disassemble/return the item for a refund. This means I was not able to get any sort of refund because it wasn’t returnable. Very disappointing and frustrating. Wish Walmart would offer a refund for giving me a broken item that I can’t use or return.
I have purchased two of these now in the green color. The first came with two of these same side - and since there are holes predrilled, it could not be fully assembled though we had half of it built before we realized. After a bit of a hassle, we got our money refunded and I ordered a replacement. This time they sent the wrong color - we got brown instead of green, even though the box clearly says green. This is why I avoid shopping at Walmart. Their marketing has intrigued me lately and some of the products are nice looking but this has been nothing but a headache.
My wife ordered this after seeing it online. It comes with knockdown hardware and I assembled it per the instructions. The problem is that it's made with particle board which has very little strength. I assembled it on the floor per the instructions and when I stood it up one side pulled off taking the hardware out with the side. I don't recommend this bookcase, it's too flimsy.
