Better Homes & Gardens Juliet Open Arch Bookcase, White and Light Honey

This bookshelf is incredible. It looks high end and really stands out in my living room. I want to order two more for my kids’ playroom. It took about an hour to assemble because of all of the pieces. It is a very heavy piece and you will need assistance lifting.

Took advantage of the free assembly being offered and this is SUCH a beautiful piece. Very heavy - very sturdy. So excited for this — I’m likely ordering another set!

All in all, for the price, this shelf is decent. I've never ordered a piece of furniture from Walmart before but was pleasantly surprised. This shelf was packed extremely well, lots of padding around all of the corners, no dents or dings, no missing pieces. Went together fairly easily with no drama. Knocking off one star for a few reasons: - The finish on the product. I ordered the white/wood tone shelf and some of the pieces are slightly different colors- it is more of a white wash look and the base/arch are slightly more gray tones compared to the sides (see photo). I am very detail oriented and most people might not notice this, and once things are on it, it is not a dealbreaker. The wood tone in the photo also looks fairly warm- I have old wood floors and from the picture online it looked like it would match pretty well. In person, the wood tone is much more cool- so keep that in mind if you're thinking similarly. - Four stars again for how some of the pieces line up. The top of the arch on the outside is a bit of an eyesore BUT you don't see it when assembled. I'm just surprised something wasn't done to make it look nicer. There are two lines of silver screws along the top (see photo). - Take note of the measurements and think about what you will be putting on the shelf. I do feel like I'm wanting the shelves to be 1-2" taller. There are 2 fixed shelves, and for them to be evenly spaced, they end up being a little over 8" tall. This will not fit a lot of books, picture frames, etc. A 5x7 frame will not stand up tall. The lip of the shelf overhangs (and looks nice) but makes the shelf more narrow. - There are no holes for cords in the back. I am planning on drilling one. - Some more positives- It is very sturdy once all put together, a few reviews mentioned it being flimsy and I don't see how, maybe they didn't follow directions. I put it together on my own and it took about 2 hours. This thing is solid. The listing mentioned adjustable feet, and was one of the reasons I purchased. I live in an old home that has settled and all the floors are sloping. There are adjustable feet on the base! I found it a lot easier to adjust the base with a level before attaching the whole shelf. All in all, I'm happy with my purchase!

pros: nicely wrapped and packed. Zero Styrofoam. While the directions are incorrect in two area-the letters on the pictures are mislabeled for the arch, otherwise they were comprehensive and better than most. Once fully assembled, it is sturdy. The adjustable shelves are the main reason I chose these. Why buy a bookcase that doesn't fit books? cons: the color on the arch has a gray tone. It's noticeably different than the remaining true white. It takes a solid 3 hours to assemble because of the wood dowels and glue. They are stingy with the glue. The back cover piece has pre-drilled holes that don't match up to the holes on the bookcase. Luckily, mine didn't split The particular board is cheap. Now, clearly all particular board is. I've assembled my fair share of cheap furniture over 30 years. I had to really take my time not to chip it while attaching the screws. The box is VERY heavy. Fed ex dropped it on my driveway. I had to unpack it there and carry it piece by piece into my home. There's no way the delivery driver could have carried it to my door

It looks nice enough and was easy to assemble. However, it doesn’t function well as a bookcase, as it’s advertised. For normal size books, you certainly can’t fit books on the shelves with all 6 shelves in the bookcase. You can fit them with 4 shelves comfortably, and 5 shelves if you don’t mind it looking awkward because you’ll have a tiny gap in between 2 shelves. The removable shelves bow in the middle with a full shelf of books.

This is beautiful but totally not strong, it can only take 50 pounds for whole cabinet which ends up being like 10 pounds per shelf which just doesn't work for us. Also when trying to just pick up cabinet after assembling it on floor the shelves ripped out due to the weight. We picked it up from side and were not even touching shelves, turns out you have to pick it up from it being on its back. Still though when we saw how flimsy the shelf strength was we had to return it, if it had been stronger I would have loved it and even paid an addition 1-2 hundred

After spending two hours putting this shelf together, as soon as I stood it up it toppled like a house of cards. I am so disappointed. I loved the look of it but it fell apart before I put a single book on it. 😞. It is totally not salvageable at this point since the mdf board cracked around every screw as it leaned and fell.

I ordered this bookcase twice and twice it came damaged. I just moved to a new place and still have not been able to fully unpack because I need this bookcase to put my books/media on. This has been a major inconvenience to me. First of all the bookcase is extremely heavy. Opening the box and finding it was damaged in transit created a massive problem for me because of how heavy it is. It was very hard to get it out of my home and into my suv because of how heavy it was. For it to be sent again and again to be damaged this is just outrageous. I called yesterday evening and spoke to a customer service representative who said they would send a replacement bookcase for me. Today I checked the app and my email and I never received confirmation that a new bookcase is being sent. So I called back today to speak to another representative only to learn that a replacement order was never put in for me. This has been awful customer experience with Walmart at every juncture. Not to mention this bookcase is so heavy there is no way I can move it again without hurting myself. I’m very unhappy with how this has all played out. The Juliet BHG furniture line is beautiful if you can get it to your home undamaged.

Came broken; took several phone calls just to set up a return. I’m now disputing the charges with my bank. Item is way too heavy to bring back downstairs by myself; I live on the fifth floor
