These are very good, but with that being said, I'm not sure if the empanadas need some kind of egg wash or something because we couldn't get them toasty brown. We did them in our convection oven. Next time we get them we're gonna put them in the air fryer and see if maybe that helps toast them up a little bit better cause they were a little doughy, but that was I think our fault more than it's fault but I still enjoyed to me anyway so can't go wrong with apple pie.
Ignore the posts that these weren't good. I air-fried for 10 minutes in the basket air fryer on 400. No flipping or anything. The ONLY thing I would change is to spray them with some cooking spray or butter when they come out so the cinnamon sugar would stick better. They would be great dipped in caramel!
I've never had empanadas, so I had no idea what to expect. I assumed it would be like an apple pie but tiny. I was very wrong. I guess empanada dough has a strong sour taste, unless it was the filling. I couldn't tell because it overpowered my taste. The filling smelled good, but was more like much with such small bits of apple. Way beyond diced! Very finely diced pieces. If it weren't for the packaged sugar and cinnamon to roll the finished product in… I could've have managed to swallow what I'd chewed. Although, my adult vegetarian kid liked them. They finished off the whole box. Maybe my taste buds are spoiled rotten.
These were gross. Taste was sour and very off putting, almost like they went rancid or bad apples were used. We air fried them using the instructions on the back, but the dough was hard and the cinnamon sugar didn't stick very well. We almost questioned if maybe the dough was cross contaminated with a savory item and that's what caused the sour taste. Would not buy again.
Do not waste your money on these. The filling was the only enjoyable part, but the dough was extremely hard and tough to eat. I was genuinely concerned that I might chip or break a tooth trying to bite into them. I followed the cooking instructions and still found the crust to be far too hard. It felt more like biting into a brick than a soft pastry. The apple cinnamon filling itself had a pleasant flavor, but it was not enough to make up for the texture of the dough. In my experience, the bettergoods brand can be hit or miss. Some of their products are excellent, while others fall short. Unfortunately, this product was a definite miss for me. This was my first and last time purchasing these empanadas. Buyer—or rather, your teeth—beware.
The pie filling is so bland and flavorless. There was plenty of cinnamon sugar mix for them. But it didn't smell and taste like it was mostly cinnamon. I had such high hopes for these and was filled with disappointment after taking the first bite. 1/10 recommend.
I didn't like the taste of these, it wasn't worth the calories because of the taste. They got thrown out 🗑🚮. I was hoping they would taste similar to Taco Bell's apple empanadas- not even close. Save your money and don't buy this. I even paired caramel sauce %26 vanilla ice cream, it was still not good.
Oh, no, no,no, noooo! These are all wrong! The texture, is nothing like an empanada should be, the flavor is not it, I would not recommend! I would actually like to be refunded, I was so unhappy with these! I thought I was getting a great value, %26 they sounded delicious! Don't be fooled, don't waste your money! I would recommend Walmart stop carrying this item! The maker of this product, needs to go all the way back to the drawing board on this recipe!
The crust is so tough. Cooked as directed. The filling had the worst after taste. Please do not give to children. Can cause choking and remove teeth. The crust removed on of my adult friends teeth. 2 of them. In my opinion this product should be removed from shelf.
These taste nothing like real empanadas. I baked them in the air fryer, and the shells came out hard and tasted bad. There's very little apple filling, and the cinnamon and sugar mixture doesn't stick. I ended up tossing them.
