bettergoods Beef and Lamb Gyro Kit, 22.2 oz

This was really good. I found it while searching for gyro meat to see if I could make my own gyros. This is even better because it contains everything that you need at a fair price. I made it using the skillet method, browning the meat a little and warming up the pita bread in the skillet, rather than the microwave. There was plenty of meat for 4 gyros. I really like that the sauce is in 4 separate packets and it is easy to prepare just 1 gyro if you want by removing 1 pita, some of the meat, and 1 packet of sauce and you put the rest in the freezer. The pita bread was authentic, very tasty and soft. This is a do again for me and will go into my rotation of meals to prepare.

​Having tried several store-bought gyro kits over the years, I can confidently say this one is far superior to any other I've tested! Most kits leave you skimping on ingredients, but this one gets the balance completely right. As you can see in my photos, it comes with four sauce packets and they are a good size, so you never have to suffer through a dry bite. I even pulled out my kitchen scale to weigh the gyro meat and the portions were spot-on at the recommended 2.5 ounces per serving, giving you a realistic portion per gyro. Microwave frozen gyro meat 50 seconds and pita for 20. I took the sauce packet out of the freezer about 30 minutes prior and it was perfect. ​Preparation couldn't be easier, making this an instant go-to for busy nights. To top mine off, I added fresh sliced tomatoes and onions, because what's a gyro without them? At less than $2.50 per gyro, the flavor, convenience and value simply can't be beaten. It has officially earned a permanent spot on my weekly grocery list!

I was scared to try these and waste money, new to the bettergoods brand but have been please with the items I've tried so far! but they were actually very good I'm already going to purchase a second pack to keep on hand in the freezer for quick and easy dinners. Prep / cook time was very minimal just warmed the meat in a pan on the stove top added my own veggies. I tried to make gyros at home and I always have leftovers and waist because I have a small family so this was perfect portions for me and no waste. Meat had a good flavor and the pita still tasted fresh.

Now I am biased, I really like the bettergoods brand. Everything I've had is good. The wings, pizza, vodka sauce spaghetti sauce, and they even make a pistachio butter spread. The gyros were a great find! Really good. My husband just ate two and was full. I'm saving one for myself for later because I know I'm going to want another one. This could be a meal for 4 if you had sides. I was worried there wouldn't be enough meat but there was. Comes with the bread, meat and sauce. Delicious! I haven't had a gyro in forever. This brand keeps surprising me.

The Pitas were pretty good. The meat however was great, but it needs some salt added. I did not try the Tzatziki sauce because buying fresh or making your own Tzatziki is always much better! I hope Walmart keeps stocking these as I was impressed with the quality and price was good

I was quite surprised by this product. The meat is actually very flavorful and the flatbread wasn't bad at all. I found the tzatziki was kinda gross and tasted more like cottage cheese than what a real tzatziki. I would buy this again and use it to go with a salad with some tomato, lettuce, sliced red onion, kalamata olives, and some good feta cheese then top it with a homemade tzatziki, then cut the pita into wedges or tear into pieces and toast in a skillet or toaster oven to be like a crouton with the salad.

The kit comes with: 🥩 Beef %26 lamb gyro slices 🫓 4 pitas (mines came with three) 🥒 4 individual tzatziki sauce packets I heated the gyro meat in a skillet until it was hot and lightly browned, warmed the pitas, and then all that was left was putting everything together.

this was a substitution in my last grocery order. It is not nearly as good as the Opaa! brand that I usually get. It was also just over $2 more expensive. The meat wasn't bad, probably pretty close to the other brand. The pitas were chewy and the tzatzika sauce was awful....it tasted like mayonnaise. I definitely will not purchase this gyro kit again.

I thought this was going to be so good. I have loved every BetterGoods product I have tried, and I was hoping it would help cut down on restaurant meals if we could find our favorites at the grocery store. This tasted like a midwestern church lady saw a picture of gyro and copied what she thought it would taste like. the sauce tasted strongly of mayonnaise. The meat tasted like the oil and onions that I added and nothing else. The bread tasted like MRE bread, so not bad but not a fluffy pita either. I am so sad.

Disgusting. Frozen gyro meat is pretty common place. There's no reason for these to be so salty and weird. It's laziness. Please stop cranking out garbage store brand products. Make an effort!!! My husband said the sauce tasted like paste. We threw away the meat and had veggie gyros.
