We usually buy the name brand dates and we typically use them in baked goods. They were out of the namebrand dates so we purchased bettergood instead and we are very happy with them. They are every bit as good as the namebrand dates and they were about $.25 less. Going forward we will probably continue to buy bettergood. Why not save that quarter?
I adore dates. Typically, I bought them from another prominent store in our area, but comparing those dates to Walmart's bettergoods, the bettergoods dates far outweigh what I was buying from the other store. Delicious, nutritious, full of fiber...and a GREAT snack. Really good for those times when you have a sweet tooth!
I prob would have bought a few bags of id known there aren't many in them. they're very big -- I'm used to deglect boor dates which are smaller and harder. keep in mind these have pits. good dates -- I don't know why anyone would need caramels with these guys made by mother nature.
I am always looking for something sweet without gluten and i finally found that one sweet goodness i will always crave! Natures sugar! Healthy and so versatile. I eat these plain' mashed up and cover with melted dark chocolate in a 9x9 pan and add any type of nuts you would like and top with sea salt! You can also ground this up and spread on toast or add on vanilla ice cream or yogurt!
I am seriously impressed with these bettergoods Whole Medjool Dates—they are hands down some of the best dried fruit I've found at the store. Each date is super plump and juicy, with a rich, caramel-like sweetness that makes them feel more like a treat than a healthy snack. I love that they aren't dried out or tough like other brands; they have that perfect soft texture that's great for stuffing with almond butter or just eating straight out of the bag. Whether you're tossing them into a morning smoothie, chopping them over yogurt, or using them in a recipe, the quality is fantastic. This 8 oz bag is the perfect size to keep in the pantry for whenever a sugar craving hits!
These are very fresh %26 soft to the very last one. I have always loved dates, but the ones I've bought in the past seem to dry out %26 get hard halfway thru, but not these. They stay soft %26 are very flavorful to the very last one. I had my package for almost a month because I didn't want to run out, %26 they never got hard to eat. Warning: they are not pitted, but the pits are fairly small %26 easy to chew around them. Bravo to Better Goods, which is quickly becoming my favorite all around brand!
The first bag I bought was so good - tasty, sweet, moist, plump and just about perfect, that I bought two more bags. The second and third bags, were still delicious, but not so moist and plump. A little on the dryer end. I love eating these stuffed with walnuts for breakfast. Or just plain as a sub for prunes or other morning fruit. Will buy again as they are still cheaper than the grocery store ones.
I don't believe I have enjoyed bagged dates before, so I am comparing them to fresh Medjool dates. The dates are sweet, ripe, chewy, and richly satisfying. They are fabulous straight out of the bag as a snack, or diced/chopped and served in an entrée or dessert. I just made them in an international dish and they were exquisite. I always called them “nature‘s candy.“ I can't believe these come off of trees.
Wow, these were the absolute worst dates I have ever eaten, and I love good dates. They were like a soft gooey over-ripe blob balled up in the bag, smelled like they were fermenting, tasted like that too with a strong black banana taste as well. Mouth-feel was awful, they had no texture, and were absolutely terrible. Both of my bags were like this and I can only speak for my particular batch. NO WAY will I order these again and Walmart owes me my $ back for this garbage. I left them out for my wild animal friends to consume, and a real shame since they were produce of the USA and I wanted to really enjoy them. Please have your supplier do a MUCH better job with the goods. Photo shows the bag that was smeared with the gooey mess, the other showing proper Medjool dates in the container with these horrible bettergoods dates on the plate that had to be separated.
Mold in the dates. Upset my stomach a lot. I only had one moldy one and then I realized that it taste so weird so I opened another and there was mold in it and then I opened another, and there was mold in it, and it was really gross. Did some research and believe the specific type of mold was Aspergillus sp., typically A. Niger. So so gross and made me so sick. The mold was spreading everywhere, I placed it on a cotton round and you can see the mold all over it in the pic I took
