Tastes fantastic. Easy for my kids to make. Followed the simple recipe. Used powdered sugar on the counter and rolling pin. Made 9 cookies w my cutter. I love the strong ginger and molasses taste.
Very easy to make. Just add water and 1 egg as directed on the box. It says to mix by hand, but my package had a lot of lumps so I did additional mixing with an electric handmixer on low for about a minute or two which made it much smoother. Baked as directed for 32 minutes in an ungreased 8x8 square glass pan. Made it Sunday not sure if much will be left by Wednesday it's that good. Cake it very moist and a good flavor. I have not tried to make cookies with the mix yet.
The Betty Crocker Gingerbread Cake and Cookie Mix (14.5 oz.) exceeded my expectations. The mix was incredibly simple to prepare, and the finished gingerbread had a wonderful balance of warm spices and rich flavor. The aroma while baking filled the kitchen and made the whole house smell amazing. I love how versatile this mix is—you can make a moist gingerbread cake or delicious cookies, depending on what you're craving. The texture turned out perfect, and everyone who tried it asked for seconds. This is a great product for holiday baking or any time you want a comforting homemade treat without spending hours in the kitchen. I'll definitely be buying it again. Highly recommended!
I buy this BETTY CROCKER GINGERBREAD CAKE and COOKIE MIX to make COOKIES. If you like Gingerbread, these are the BEST! I USE 2 BOXES and it makes 36, 2 1/2" - 3" cookies. If you cook them for 13 minutes they come out very soft and chewy, which is my favorite type of cookie. It takes very little time to make these and if you make up the dough and then let it sit in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes it makes it so much easier to handle when you roll the dough into balls. I roll the balls in sugar before I place them on my cookie sheet which I line with parchment paper first. This keeps the cookies from sticking to the cookie sheet and makes clean up so much faster. I also use REAL BUTTER too. I'm going to have to start making these up using 3 boxes at a time as they do not last more than 2 days in my home. Best part is you can make the dough up ahead of time, put it in the refrigerator and take it out when you're ready to bake cookies. You can also FREEZE the BAKED cookies by putting them in Zip lock Freezer bags and putting them in the freezer and take them out 10 minutes before you are ready to serve them. BEST GINGERBREAD COOKIES NEXT TO HOMEMADE! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE!!!
I like this stuff, the ginger flavor isn't weak like some others are. My experience has been that if I beat it like crazy I get a nice dense cake. When I've beat it less it came out fluffier looking, and visibly higher in the pan, but the consistency felt hard and spongy in my mouth. I use a round 9" glass pan, and butter it well before pouring the batter in, although it doesn't say to grease the pan in the directions. And I leave it in a full 38 minutes. 350 degrees is not as hot as some cakes cook at so I guess it needs more time. You can eat it plain - it's very flavorful. But you can upgrade it simply with powdered sugar or a cream cheese frosting. I usually just butter the top; it's cheap, easy, delicious, and I always have some in the fridge. But I think next time around I'm going with the Reddi Whip.
I used this cake mix to make ginger snaps by following box instructions, and also adding finely ground black pepper and powdered cloves for Bite, powdered cinnamon and butter extract — I RARELY Don't 'doctor-up' recipes or mixes like this one! (AND, I might add: I have a “G👀D C♾️K” reputation!!)
I've baked this every December for years (and sometimes at other times during the year as well). It's a family favorite...extra special with whipped cream on top. I couldn't find it in Kuhn's or Giant Eagle this year so I was very happy to find it at Walmart. I highly recommend this mix...easy to make and delicious!
Besides being delicious it is easy and quick to make. Soooo good with vanilla ice-cream or whipped cream, yummmm! I am handicapped so I always keep a box or two handy in case I have unexpected company. Seems like most people like "ginger bread". If I don't have ice-cream or whipped cream I sprinkle powdered sugar over the top and it's a winner!
My family loves Betty Crocker gingerbread - it's so moist and flavorful. The only reason I rated 4 stars instead of 5 is because I ordered four boxes and two of them were past the "use by" date. They were delivered from the local store. To Walmart's credit, I did a chat with them and they refunded me for the two expired boxes. I would have rather had them replaced, but they couldn't make another deliver just for two items.
The amount of water was too much it made the batter very thin and quite lumpy was hard to get the lumps out and definitely could not make any cookies which is what I bought it for to make cookies with my grandbabies so we had to make a thin cake and put frosting on it didn't have much of a flavor so definitely would not be recommending this no buying it again
