The best Father's Day gift I've ever received. After 3 uses, I'm blown away by the flavor and quality of this grill. I highly recommend the Kamado Joe to any grill enthusiast looking for a high-quality and versatile piece of equipment.
I have used egg smokers in the past and they are my preferred version of smoker. But Komodo Joe makes an egg smoker that's just a cut above the rest. Every single detail is meticulously thought out. It seals better. It holds temperature more consistant. It's more versatile with the multi-shelves. I couldn't be happier with the decision I made
I have only had 4 or 5 cooks so far and I am impressed with the ability to maintain a low fire for 18 to 20 hours with out adding fuel. I picked this grill because of the quality and long life expectancy, only time will tell. From what I have seen so far it should live up to my expectations. Packaging is more than adequate for shipping and SEF are pros at delivering, you will need help getting it to the backyard and look to youtube on how to lift it. Would be useful for rack storage on the sides of the legs.
Some of the best lessons I ever learned came standing next to my dad at the grill. He had this beer‑chicken recipe he never wrote down, just a rhythm and instinct you only learn by watching. That's where my love for live‑fire cooking started. As I got older, I pushed myself to try new styles, new fuels, new techniques — and eventually found my way into competitions, community cooks, and now helping plan grilling events for families across our area. Today I cook on a Big Joe III, Classic II, and my Joe Jr, and every time I light charcoal I'm reminded that what Dad passed down wasn't just a recipe — it was a way of bringing people together. That's why we are Fireborn. Because the flame doesn't start at the grill… it starts with the people who taught us. #DadsGrillLegacy @KamadoJoe
I love my KJBJ3. The first one I received was slightly cracked, it was replaced immediately. My second one recently had a neighbors tree fall on it, as well as demolish a new shed, fence, and dining set. Insurance replaced that one, and there is something to say about the brand and product. I use mine all the time. I referred my neighbors to them, now there are several in the neighborhood(5 as of writing this) and we have cook-offs frequently. I have all the accessories and it is amazing that you can go from a pizza oven, to a rotisserie to smoking in minutes. The versatility and quality are second to none. The way it holds heat, circulates smoke, has an efficient burn and ember, I am a strong believer! Love experimenting with various lump charcoals from KJ's own, to Fogo, to so many more. Buy once, never cry, best investment and couldnt speak highly enough of my KJBJ3.
It’s HUGE, and heavy! Extremely well built, and utilizes very good materials. Ensure you have another person with you if you plan on utilizing the stand. It’s awkward, and like I said, heavy. You may even do well to have a third person on, “Stand by” just incase you need yet another pair of hands to assist. Finally, the directions on the proper way to place the inserts is less than stellar. I can’t tell you how long I attempted to install the inserts until I figured out to utilize the metal ring. The ring not only kept everything in place, but also closed any gaps I was originally running into.
Every little detail is well thought through, love the Kamado Joe Classic III, a we'll put together product. My top favorite features 1) removable ash tray for ease of cleaning, 2) lid hinge system easy to hold in place and feels light weight, 3) well engineerer tower control vent that holds in place when opening/closing the lid, 4) all the accessories that came with it (and sold separately) including sloroller, pizza stones, 5) easy online shopping and on-time delivery (super easy to put together). Since I bought it ~2 months ago I smoked briskets, ribs, baked amazing home made pizzas, cooked beef bourguignon, all came out amazing. Solid 5 stars.
I have to say I am mad at my friends that have a kamado grill they have totally undersold them to me. I had a weber kettle and a weber kettle with a smoking expander ring and the big joe 3 easily replaces both of them. Here are the big things for me personally: 1) Temperature control and even heating inside the grill is amazing so the cooking consistency which results in more evenly cooked food. 2) The ceramic shell retain moister during a cook which seems to keep food from drying out as quick. 3) I personally went with the largest Kamado because I didn't want to lose any cooking area. 4) The family has not complained about any bitter smokey taste on the food whether I am cooking burgers, lasagna, veggies, pizza.... which was not always the case with my kettle. This grill is perfect for how and what I like to cook on a grill. It is very versatile
I love cooking on the Kamado Joe III. Everything has turned out perfectly, from Pork butter, chicken thighs, reverse-seared T-bones and sirloin steaks, to spatchcocked chicken. This grill is crazy easy to adjust and maintain cooking temperatures. The sloroller has me speechless on the quality of my smoked dishes. The quality of the grill and the included accessories are first-rate and are worth the expense, compared to other ceramic grills. I'm ready to buy a second Kamado Joe now!
I started with a steel kamado, and while it worked ok, nothing replaces ceramic. Temp control, insulation, heat retention, and a sealed environment are the reasons I was interested (along with grilling versatility) and I was not disappointed. It’s been a short while but so far this grill can handle everything. I am very happy with my purchase.
