Have been addicted to Big John's ever since living in the MIdwest where it was available in taverns and such food service places as a single serve item. Now on West Coast I found it on Walmart and at a great price. Sausage is chicken and pork and is not greasy, vinegar pickle means that no refrigeration is needed. Slice and eat sausages for sandwiches for lunch or have a sausage as a snack. Vinegar pickle also is excellent for pickling hard boiled eggs or other items after sausages have been eaten.

Childhood memories

marina December 16, 2025

Just like I remember them from my childhood! I'm pregnant and have been craving them for a while even before and finally ordered the Walmart one because Amazon one was disgusting after years. I finally decided to bite the bullet and try again in the Walmart one did it it was delicious and I've ate all of them in a matter of six days

Memories to reality

These remind me of the little Penrose sausages that you could find when I was growing up. I have a tiny low for those and this is the closest product on the market.

Normally these are really good but this last jar was not, the hot sausages had all these little white globby soft spots through out them it kind of made me think of beef when it has alot of taperom parsite eggs or parasite specs from being ground up to make the sausage either way it was really gross ...

Tiger August 7, 2025

It came with the lid broken, the aluminum seal opened and all the brine leaked out. It must have been shipped that way because there was an adhesive strip across the lid that said “to prevent leakage”. There was not a strip on the jar of pickled eggs that came with it. Now they will not replace or reimburse until they receive the damaged jar.

Worst Sausages I have ever had.

marvalene November 14, 2025

Big John's pickled sausages were mushy tasted nasty, I use to order these a lot, use to be great, but i won't be ordering anymore, I noticed these were not the hot pickled ones and i like the hot, but these were just real mushy, I have never seen pickled or hot pickled just like mush. gave them to my brother and told him if he don't like them to just toss them.

Meh, probably not ever again...

anonymous May 11, 2025

They made me give it a star but this is a no stars situation. When I opened them, the seal came up way to easily, so maybe they were old and the glue had like, dried up. Expiration date is 11/25. I took a hearty bite of one and cried. It tasted "off" and the consistency was not that of anything remotely sausage related. It felt in my mouth as potted meat appears in a can. Nasty and mushy.
