I just received these today. I want to hang my mountain bike up out of the way a bit and these will work great. They state they will hold up to 40 pounds, but I took a single hook and strapped up a 25 pound weight to it and it did not flex or anything. With that, I think 40 pounds is a very safe estimate. Both hooks have a nice rubber sleeve to help alleviate any scratches. You can mount this using one wheel with the bike up against the wall (in a corner would use the least amount of room. You can also use it to hook both wheels from the ceiling so it is hanging upside down from the ceiling. The second option is what I am doing. Just find a joist (easy if not dry walled). Mine is, so I used a stud finder. Measured the distance between the 2 center of the wheels and drilled a couple holes to screw in these hangers. Very simple and it is a simple way to make some extra room.
Hooks are a really nice size, making them easier to hook your bike onto, we had smaller ones and you constantly are struggling to get the hook on the bike tires. The rubber padding helps to protect from any damage. They hold up to 40lbs and also could be used to hang other items you want off the floor, we are using one for a ladder because it comes with 2 hooks! Installation included drilling a small hole first, which made it easier to screw in place! The jumbo hooks are so much better,. Bikes take up alot of room so these sturdy hooks are so good to free up space!
Great set of bike hooks I bought and installed in my garage. You will need a good support to use - they are not made for drywall! I used one of my support posts, predrilled some holes, and easily screwed them in. Bike is still hanging there weeks later and I haven't noticed any give. Great space saver!
These ceiling hooks are supper strong and easily installed. Make sure you drill the holes in the ceiling with a smaller bit the the diameter of the hook. Also make certain you are installing both hooks in the ceiling rafters. if you just put it in the drywall you will soon have a chronic headache and need a body man for your car.
What a great idea for space saving. I used 2 hooks for each bike and it works perfectly. I put them in the garage and it made a difference with the space. The 2 hooks hold the bike with no problem. Make sure you find the studs first before drilling a hole. Highly recommend!!
These are some tough hooks. I know they are technically bike hooks but we used them to hang my sons punching bag and it works great. They say they hold 40 pounds and they hold that and maybe more. They just screw into the ceiling and you can use the hook for almost anything. They are simple, easy to use, and easy to install. I also love that they have a rubber protector on them to either help hold the item in place or protect the item from damage.
These are really nice, heavy duty bike hooks. They part you screw into the wall or ceiling are coated so should last with no rusting. The hook part itself is coated in a heavy duty, really nice rubber coating, so no scratches or nicks to your bike. Really great, quality hooks that I would recommend.
The Bike Shop Jumbo J Hooks are perfect for indoor or outdoor storage and can be mounted on ceilings or walls. Easy to install into the center of ceiling joist or stud in the wall. Pre-drilling a 1/8 pilot hole will help make installation much easier. Hooks can be used to hold up to 40lbs. Jumbo Hooks have scratch-resistant rubberized padding and are made of heavy-duty steel construction. All different sizes of bikes, toys, tools, outdoor garden hoses, and ladders, can be safely stored on these hooks. I highly recommend these hooks for added storage space to keep items up off the floor and ground.
Installation took 2 minutes once I located the stud: drill a 1/4" hole into a stud, countersink drywall with a 1/2" bit so threads can penetrate all the way to the shank, and then hand-screw in the hook. The hook is strong enough that I was able to almost lift off the floor before I felt the hook starting to bend (and I weigh just over 200 lbs) so no worries holding a bike. And there is plenty of clearance in the opening for me to slide my 2.25" tires in. I've noted that a couple of other reviews mention that the threads aren't very long when used through drywall but as long as the whole screw part goes into the wood it will be fine, just make sure to cut a hole through wallboard big enough for the shank to slide into until it gets all the way to the stud (1/2" was a tad large, 3/8" would probably be about perfect)
As you can see I have not attached the hooks yet but I can see with the depth of the threaded shaft they will attach very deep and have very strong holding power for bikes or other items you may want to hang. My only complaint is not due to to the product but the height of our garage ceiling makes it nearly impossible to use them both. I will prob use one hook (which is plenty strong) and hang with one wheel or attach to the wall and use for another purpose besides the bike.
