Why is the paint matte black? Not many people have a car that has matte black paint!

Birchwood Casey blackening pen for aluminum.
I would not recommend this product in pen form to anyone wanting to use it to blacken an aluminum piece on a gun or similar surface. It looks more like black paint instead of a chemical used to blacken aluminum surfaces. I will not buy again. I will buy the larger bottle as long as it is in liquid form and does not look like black paint.
