The spikes are plastic which is what I wanted. Didn't want metal to potentially injure an animal. Just a deterrent. We stapled them on our side of the fence, along the top. Neighbor has a bird feeder so birds would sit on fence with their tails over our side, making "deposit" streaks all down the fence. Also, a possum would walk along the railings on neighbor's side and then jump down to our yard to get into our garden. The plastic spikes have worked perfectly.

i havent installed these yet because they did not come with any fasteners. I didnt realize this when I ordered them. i have to order silicon glue. Too expensive. Not sure how well they will work.

Wish it came with adhesive to mount them.

The product was difficult to use given the fact that we needed it to adhere to a brick surface.
