BK4X2-BB Big Berkey Gravity-Fed Water Filter System

My daughter has had her Berkey for 2 years and she loves it. I was tired of carrying the 5 gal bottle of water I was always refilling at the local clean water machine. Berkey, so far it works great.

This is well built and it was simple to set up and use. It filters fairly quickly and we are pleased with the taste of the water.

I have been using my stainless steel Big Berkey with 4 black ceramic filters for at least 3 years now. I got it anticipating problems with fracking in my area but also recently had elevated lead levels show up in my water. I like the peace of mind it gives me, since it filters out lead, bacteria and organic chemicals. The only trouble I have is that I have to remember to check how much water is in the bottom chamber before adding water to the top, or it can overflow (the directions warn of this!). But I still prefer having my water from stainless steel rather than plastic. It's a simple device and easy to use. It has held up very well I tell all my friends about it.

Looks great and seems to be working fine. My unit arrived with a bent lid and missing the lid knob. I called Berkey and they sent me a new one. The only thing I am concerned about is what I have read about the filters. There is one brand that filters more (including fluoride). A independent lab(s) tested Berkey and the results came back better! I may change later. Other than that.. love it.

Why would anyone buy any other type of water filter? The Big Berkey is the best. Over the decades we have used a lot of bottled water and tried different filters. We love that there are no moving parts, no noisy pumps. It is easy to clean but it hardly ever needs cleaning. We love our Berkey and it looks great in our kitchen. You won't regret this purchase. .

I hope it's doing what is claimed. I got the additional fluoride arsenic filters and also went to the berkey site and got a stainless water view spicket. This helps greatly to monitor the filtered water level and prevent overfilling. In my humble opinion they shouldn't be sold without this feature. So far so good. Looks great, water tastes great, and filters enough for my wife and I on one fill.
