This is just what I needed to reclaim my lawn. It was overgrown from years of neglect and I (64 year old female) found it very easy to use. I have never used a chainsaw and this is not intimating with the guard on both sides of the blade, as a matter of fact it is fun to use. I had read several review so I had no surprises the first time I used it.
I have owned one of these for over 5 years in florida with lots of limb and full trees to deal with after storms. This is a very safe and useful tool for limbs up to 4 in in diameter. This one was purchase for my daughter who has used mine and found it much safer than a regular chainsaw. It was as birthday present. She is also in Florida.
This thing is great!! It works very well without a lot of messing around. It cuts every thing from 1/4" to 3"-4" very easy. I LOVE it.
I am a female in my 70s and do most of my own garden maintenance, including tree trimming, and I LOVE this B
This purchase (battery and charger WERE INCLUDED) was to replace our electrical lopper. Cordless will be more convenient. We love the lopper and can’t understand why everyone doesn’t have one. We are seniors who maintain a 8+ acre yard and find this a great tool.
My husband buys all Black and Decker tools and didn't know about this product. Our friend (Anne) told us about it and helped me order it on line. She said this was awesome compared to me always using my big scissors to cut down branches. My husband loves it so much he uses it all the time.
This is a great tool. I have invested in the B&D ecosystem with a dozen batteries and tools. But, this lopper is my favorite tool. It literally grabs onto branches and doesn't let go until the cut is complete. I've had no kickback at all, and it's a lot safer to use (with reasonable care) than a regular chainsaw. I have a 5" pruning saw, but this is my go-to for anything involving trees, bushes and shrubs.
My best friend passed away, and he owned this alligator lopper. His wife gave it to me after he passed. I had always either used a manual pruning lopper or an electric chainsaw when needed. I was surprised by how well this works, and how much easier it makes things. You can't do much with an old pruning lopper. I usually didn't feel like getting out my chainsaw, along with plugging it into an outlet with 50 feet of extension cord. This alligator lopper goes through things pretty easily, even dead branches a few inches thick. My neighbor had several old bushes that he wanted to remove. He borrowed this tool. He had been using a Milwaukee Sawzall, a type of reciprocating saw. It was working, but it presented a lot of work, and he was going through several blades due to all of the difficulty sawing all those branches near ground level. This alligator lopper did a much better, easier, and faster job of it.
I read the reviews for this product, and was aware of the shortcomings of this product, which are: No self oiler. Requires re-oiling about every ten minutes. The wrench (for adjusting chain tension) is too short and poorly made.
Does not come with battery Not clear on website picture shows battery, costs another 80-90 for battery & charger-if you can find one
