That purple light
Perfect replacement bulb - easy to change - worked perfectly as soon as it was plugged in. Price was a tad higher than I would have liked to see, especially for an item made in china. Better yet; it attracts insects into the bug zapper -- I love the smell of zapped bugs in the evening - it's the smell of victory!

Keep safe
Always request ship by USPS ground delivery if you can. Item delivered in mail personal locked mail box. Discourage porch pirates.

Use the name brand
I tried to use the knockoff brands for this bug zapper and one of them actually shorted out the unit. Stick with this name brand. Good thing to know, the Black Flag bug zapper has a 5-year warranty but you have to ship it to Georgia. They sent me a new one with a new bulb installed by the way.

As others have said, the black light seems basically so that it doesn't bother people. The white light seems to attract more bugs from what I can tell

Replaces burned out bulb with same effectiveness
I bought the exact replacement for the "black light" bulb that burned out. (The white light may be a less expensive alternative)
