Cordless weed trimmers always seem to be under powered. The line feeder either doesn't feed. Or it runs out too fast. This weed trimmer is hungry. It holds up surprisingly well for 20V.
This trimmer has been my favorite go to trimmer due to the ease of use, runtime, lightweight and two powerful options that extend the battery time. Easy to flip from trimmer to edger. This is easy to let out string without having to bang on the ground. These are very durable and i have one of the first versions that still works but bought the new one due to enhanced features and strength. I even bought one as a gift.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This has excellent battery life to trim our large yard. We are constantly clearing overgrowth along our main road and throughout my gardens. This is a small bit mighty machine. My only complaint is if you don't tighten the midline adjustments really tight it vibrates quite a bit. See green arrow in the photo where I'm referencing. Cut through thick weeds effortlessly.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall, this is a great trimmer for a small yard that can also double as an edger. Having owned a previous version of the string trimmer, it was great to see some of the updates for this model. First, the battery is slightly smaller, but 1 more AH than my current battery. The storage for the blades in the handle works really well, though the Allen wrench can be a bit challenging to remove. Switching between trimming and edging mode by rotating the head is extremely easy and the telescoping shaft works well. If you're taller than 6"2', you might find it a little short. Swapping heads is easier than I thought it would be, you simply undo a small screw. Finally, the edging mode works well, especially once the edge is established. If you have hard soil and need to define the edge, you may want to loosen the dirt up with small shovel or use the string trimer part first.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Black and Decker 20V max cordless cutter is great! It was extremely easy to just take right out of the box and use within a few minutes. It gives such a great cut and gets rid of all the unwanted weeds that are next to my fence and everything in my yard. It is super easy to use and I've actually enjoyed having it! I like that it doesn't have the normal line to it and has the small orange things that you use instead. They are simple and give a good cut and make it way easier to change them when needed.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the freedom that Black Decker weed wacker give I am no longer tie to a cord. I have large yard and make easier for to line , cut grass and weed. I can do within a hour of the battery life before recharge again. It did a perfect job , was easy to put together and love that blades are underneath the unit. I never going back to a cord.
Love the ease of using it and the adjustable height is nice when there are multiple people using it. Has nice power for a battery powered weed eater. My issue is the resin blades aren't the strongest. I've already broke 2 sets.
I'll need to come back and update this taking it out of the box it wasn't as user friendly as I thought. I'm right handed and using the edger I needed to hold it upside down in order for it to work and the resin blades wore out( four) just doing my front lawn and back lawn which is very small.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was provided this product for free from Black + Decker in exchange for my review. This is a battery powered lawn trimmer and edger. It came with replaceable plastic blades that are placed on opposite sides of the rotating base. The instructions say that it may be used as a string trimmer, but the product did not come with a spool of string or an attachable base that holds a spool. The protective cover over the trimmer was to be applied with a single screw to hold it in place. I could not attach it by hand, because the screw got stuck, so I used a battery powered screwdriver, and it broke the very thin piece of plastic surrounding the screw. The cover still stays in place, however. The instructions were not very clear. It also came with a battery, which needed to be charged for about eight hours before the charging light turned green and was ready to use. The battery is small and lightweight. It lasted about two hours after charging. The length of the trimmer pole may be adjusted to be longer or shorter and telescopes, by twisting the shaft of the pole. There is a rolling wheel to help guide edging. There is a U – shaped handle, which is fixed on the pole and may not be adjusted, so it is very awkward to hold and do edging work at the same time, and various angles. The power button also has to be held continuously, in order to work. If it is released, it stops working. After using the trimmer on two separate occasions, I continued to have numbness in the tip of my thumb for over one week. I only edged a small part of my yard. The trimmer blades clicked in place and seemed to be secure, but after using the product, the blades would either pop off, or break. I used at least seven blades, and possibly more, because I could not find all of the blades, after they popped off, to edge only a small part of my yard. It would be better if it came with a package of 100 blades, since they are small and easily broken. There is a storage under the handle to hold extra blades, so that they may be reached easily if one breaks and needs to be replaced with a new blade. The trimmer was not too heavy, but it was awkward to do edging. I was able to go through weeds and dirt. It was relatively quiet. Overall, it's positive features include that it does an adequate job of edging, Is lightweight, and is convenient and quiet because it does not rely on an electrical power cord or gas. Its negative features include that the trimmer blades break easily; it does not come with enough replacement blades; it is awkward to hold because the handle cannot be rotated around the pole; and it causes thumb numbness, due to having to hold the power button continuously to get the trimmer to work. Therefore, I do not recommend the product.
No spare resin blades available for purchase. Cannot swap from blade to string as the string trimmer head is not available for purchase. String trimmer head does not come with this unit even though it sounds like it does in the product title. Avoid this at all costs unless you want a trimmer that's only good for a few uses. Much better options out there that have replacement part support for same price range.
