This will be my third Black %26 Decker 40 V weed eater I have purchased in the past SEVERAL years. I have bought other weed eaters to try , and end up returning them because they were just too heavy for me. ( I am a senior woman) I just love this weed eater because it does the job for me. It's light weight and I can easily manage where I need it to trim grass and edge my yard.
Much lighter and easier to start than gas weedeater. Not as powerful, but wasn't expecting it to be. The only improvement I can think of would be to have a two-string spool. Don't know how long the battery lasts as I only used it for about 20 minutes.
I am impressed with the performance of this trimmer, so much lighter and easier to use than my old hard to start gas powered trimmer, a pull on the trigger and you're ready to go. The variable speed is a real plus, saving battery power on lighter jobs.
Since the government requires ethanol in gasoline, my gas trimmers and chainsaws never last for more than a year without expensive repairs, so I bought this battery trimmer. With acreage, you can't use a corded trimmer and the reviews were good on this one. It last for about 20-30 minutes per charge depending on which setting you use and recharges in about an hour. I rarely needed it over setting 2, only on very tough weeds and reeds. I used bulk string which is cheaper than buying prewound spools. I went through a lot of string while edging the long driveway, but it hadn't been done in quite a while. This model has an automatic feed for the string so no bumping required. Using it at the angle cited in the user manual will use less. So far I am pleased with the performance of cutting, edging and ease of use. It is lighter than a gas trimmer, and the length of the tube from handle to cutter head is adjustable for us tall people. I'm considering buying a second battery to get more done quicker.
Been using the trimmer for a couple of weeks now. It has amazing staying power if you stay at the lower power setting - and that works for most of what I need to do. The string advances without you even knowing it and the battery charges quickly. I have an 1 1/2 acre lot with lots of weeds to eat, so was skeptical that it would work long enough to do my routine trimming: it does. For harder work, I crank up the power and go at it until the battery gets low. It is more convenient than my old gas model for sure. Would love it if it had an attachment of plastic blades for some of the bigger weeds, but understand it really isn't designed for that level of work.
I have used electric trimmers, which are a big hassle dragging the cord around. gas trimmers are a big hassle to mix the gas & oil and try to get it started without wearing out my arm ! Well I had read reviws on this 36 Volt Black & Decker battery trimmer and decided to give it a try and it beats all others by miles !!! It is lighter than the others, the rapid battery charger is great and charges the battery in one hour ! I have used it for one month now to trim 2 acres and the battery lasts about one hour and I would highly recommend this trimmer. Plus, WalMart had the best price !
I have used this only a few times, but it does much better than I expected. Very light, compared to a gas trimmer. Plenty of power for grass trimming and small weeds. Recharges very quickly. I do not use it for edging, only trimming. The self feeding line is a big plus.
Great value for performance. Easy to use, light weight, terrific performance. What a difference having a great product makes when tackling a job. Very satisfied and highly recommend.
I really like using this trimmer, it is light, quiet and easy to use. HOWEVER, I am very disappointed in the battery, it only lasts max of 20 minutes. when I call customer service, they told me that was standard and just purchase a 2nd battery. not exactly customer friendly. the features of this trimmer sort of make up for the battery. I've used on very dense grass and weeds and cuts them beautifully.
This trimmer does a good job of edging at speed 1. It's lightweight and easy to handle. It is easy to respool with readily available .065 line. The wire bale helps, but does not eliminate, 'accidently' destroying overhanging flowers when trimming. The battery lasts about a 1/2 hour on the lowest speed, but a lot of trimming can be done in that time. Surprisingly, this trimmer cut down high, tough weeds at the highest speed. The downside is the battery doesn't last very long if used at a higher speed -- maybe 15 - 20 minutes of constant use at speed 6. Full battery recharge takes about an hour. The ideal situation would be to have 1 or 2 additional charged batteries as backup, but they are TOO EXPENSIVE.
