Works Well.

CousinPeg September 23, 2013

This blender is a replace for another that I dropped (oops) and broke. It was inexpensive which was what I was looking for and it works well. We usually make shakes, but it has a number of speeds. So far,so good.

This is my first blender and I've only used it twice and now I'm wondering why I waited to get one. Thrilled!

Good, if one recognizes its limitations....

I think that the 550W motor is pretty good--I've relied upon this for a year so far, I suppose. The previous one, with about the same usage, burnt out with stringy beet tops. This newer one of this has not had that issue. The moral: A seized electric motor, without some sort of auto-cutoff (available in a bar-quality blender which will cost you your first-born!) burns up and dies. Note immediately when that's an issue, unplug, and attend to clearing the blades. I always blend with sufficient water (or liquid)--simply pureeing raw or frozen stuff isn't intended for this model--grinding coffee or other foodstuffs isn't, either: What do you expect for the extreme value? Fancy infomercial blenders generally have jars which feature bottom interlock tabs--which after turning then switch the motor on--a safety feature. What if tabs break off, though? What about the interlock mysteriously failing to start the motor, anyway? I owned one of those which failed--after a few years. Yeah--I expected better--never again. Well, this jar lacks those tabs--a big plus: No faulty interlock then foils blending. I suggest that this is the minimum-power traditional jar blender that's worthwhile for a young (or cheap) single or couple--forget lesser wattage models. This plastic jar isn't invulnerable: A heavy glass jar inevitably will meet the floor or a hard surface. This jar, and other parts, are common and interchangeable. I rely upon this basically daily--maybe twice per day: It's not a low-quality item--just know the product....

Average at Best

Having bought this item strictly on the name of Black and Decker, I anticipated more from this product. However, it's true that you get what you pay for. The product (plastic) is not as good as others made out of glass and with more motor features. I probably will use this for a while and then purchase another with features and quality I'm accustomed to.

Don't waste your money on this

PrestonMom September 10, 2013

Ordered this online. The day if finally got to me, I set it up an used it to make a couple of milk shakes. The first one turned out beautifully. When I set up the second one, a few seconds into mixing, the blender died...never to start again. Checked to make sure it was not my outlet or by breakers and plugged another appliance in to outlet. The other appliance worked. Not a good investment when it only worked less than three minutes (figures about $10 per minute cost to use after adding shipping and tax)!!!! Now I have to fight with the store this weekend to return this defective item and try to get my money back!!!!

Not a good product

Syeda R July 25, 2017

Not worth buying. I had this same blender for more than 2 years which was bought from Boscovs. It was working so good. So when it has finally stopped working I thought I will buy the same blender again and so I did and this time I bought from here. It is the worst blender I bought. It doesn't even blend the normal cut out things properly let alone ice. I didn't even bother with the ice. It's performance is already poor with vegetables and fruits. Broke in 1 week

Questi4110 October 18, 2013

The blender broke within 1 week of using it...the motor system on the bottom is not very sturdy. I used it probably 10 times with some fruits to make a smoothie.

Review - very poor product

siva October 3, 2016

1. Jar is too big to take out the content 2. it is not even able make watermelon juice with cube kind of pieces, we have make very minute pieces, which extra work to us. 3.Blade very small 4. smoke is coming out of the device just after 2 minutes usage 5. We are getting plastic smell while machine is running 6. There is a scratch on the jar
