Worth purchasing.

Michelle April 28, 2026

When I first received the cultivator, the battery did not work. I wrote to Black and Decker and they sent me a new battery. I have used it to loosen weeds so I was able to easily pull them out. I also used for planting grass. So much easier on my back. Great for small jobs around the house. I would recommend this cultivator.

Battery

Sandra April 16, 2025

Love the cultivator However when the package came it was all wrapped up with black plastic around it. And when I went to charge the battery that came with it, it would not charge. Thank god I purchased another battery and when that arrived I was able to charge it. So the battery that was sold with the cultivator is NO GOOD. And I reached out to Walmart and they sent my message to Jay' Buy Box and they told me I needed to go thru Black and Decker for the warranty of the battery. Here I am a week later and still going back and forth trying to get this battery replaced. It looks like the battery was made back in 2021!!!! The Battery I order later was from 2024!!

Does the job well

GardenFans November 5, 2013

I was expecting less from the cultivator based on other reviews, but have been pleasantly surprised. It does a great job, even in drier areas. I especially like the precision when working around delicate plants. The battery takes a long time to charge, and does not last for a long time, but this is understandable.

works great but short battery life

anonymous April 16, 2025

Cultivator works well in st augistine grass for dethatching. roots unwind easily from the cultivator head because of its unique vertical positioning of the tines. I would give this cultivator a five star rating, but the battery life needs much improvement. Other than that, I am extremely happy with my purchase!

Everything was OK except the charger. The charger was for a 40v unit battery but this requires a 20v charger. Can a replacement be sent?

Did not work, Walmart credited my account. Ordered a battery to see if that is the problem.

Works ok for already loose ground, to refine it.

Gramma407 May 10, 2014

Was excited to get this, as it sounded perfect for my raised beds. The soil is loose & it worked ok, but if the soil is too damp, the tines clog up easily. They also get clogged in weeds, and grass, which is one of things I wanted it for in the beds. The tines are short, would like to see 6 inch. The battery is running down pretty quickly after the first use. Don't understand that. I'm not sorry I bought it, as it was reasonable. Figure that's probably why it doesn't live up to the ad. I will use in for light work. It does save me from bending and getting on my knees. I am a 64 yr old woman with arthritis. It is light and easy to use.

This was difficult to assemble and when I tried to charge the battery it wouldn't charge. Called Black and Decker customer service and was told that it was due to a bad battery. was told they couldnt help me at all. I had to go through Walmart to try to get a replacement. DONT BUY BLACK AND DECKER!!!!!!
