B'laster 5-SS Surface Shield Bulk 5-Gal Pail, Multi

I have previously used a lower cost competitors lanolin product for many years with good success. I bought this product with hopes that it will resist was off more successfully. It does cost more that my previous product. Much thinner than fluid film, no need to warm before spraying. So far I'm am very happy.

Pop the nozzle off the can when it is clogged (first use) and soak in MINERAL SPIRITS, then blow compressed air through if available. After use, soak nozzle. While I agree the nozzles leave a lot to be desired I've had partial cans sit for over a year and they spray just fine using this maintenance. Bear in mind that this product is designed to dry and seal so the tiny nozzle orifice will clog. I save old cleaned nozzles from empty cans so I always have a supply of good ones. this product does work great at protection.

I got this because well Rust is everywhere and I dont have a tool to remove it. I thought it was a rust remover or like a penetrator that prevented rust. Well I applied to the wheel well of my car when changing the calipers and rotors and suddenly the rust was bubbling and then just wiped right off... I was so suprised that I started spraying it all over and watched the rust turn to a black sludgy mud substance. I could wipe a lot off but it worked best when I scrubbed it with a wire brush first waited about 10 min then wiped it off... This stuff is crazy good. Sooo then I realized that not all the rust was going away not the stuff that seemed to be more of a rust scar than rust buildup. So I just sprayed it again and left it over night... the next morning all the rust was gone!!! I am in love so much love with this product I wont ever buy anything else I swear. Man oh man. I have to go buy some more because of coarse I used it all but I plan to make videos and take before and after pictures because this is incredible. Thank you so much.. I dont have the tools to get rust off other than my little wire brushes so this really saved my arms and back cuz dang WD-40 wont do much but this Surface Shield (I am not useing as directed obviously) is the bees knees.

I needed to use this product in the aerosol cans as I don't have an air compressor, but was hesitant based on the other reviews citing problems with the cans. The cans worked great for me, no issues at all. Based on those reviews I put them in a bucket of very warm water (under 120deg) before I used them so the fluid was warmed, shook them well, and every can I used on my truck undercarriage worked flawlessly even though the outside temperature was cold. Also I ordered the 360 degree spray hose for the cans recommended in the FAQs and used it to do the inside of the frame rails. Using the same can warming approach it worked great. Also no horrible smell! Highly recommend.

Having had 40 years of experience with containers like this one i could not get the lid off this product to mix it properly, so plan on a way to shake it. Surface shield is easy to spray, has very minimal odor and is very easy to clean up after. It does not drip after applied even when generously applied. The coverage and the way it flows onto your work makes things go very rapidly . Lighting is most important to see your progress as it is an almost clear product. It is best to warm the product to about 90 degrees by placing spray containers in hot water. I sprayed the product at about 80 psi which seemed effective. I had no concerns with it after getting it on my hands as it caused no irritation and wiped right off. I would certainly say it is a very approachable product for DIYers as well as experienced professionals and would certainly recommend.

I really like the product. It works even in the humid environment where I live. Unfortunately the can, and specifically the nozzle, is worthless. It sprayed OK for a bit, but after sitting a week I picked it up and it would not spray. The can is still probably 90% full. I popped off the nozzle to try and clear it up but had no luck . The dip tube is fine. If I pressed down on the top valve with a thin screwdriver, it will definitely spray up out of the can. The plastic nozzle is just worthless. Seems like a HUGE waste. If this is too heavy to spray as an aerosol, then consider putting it into a bottle with a trigger sprayer.

I bought a case of it to prep my new vehicle for winter and was planning on taking care of it this weekend. Due to colder temperatures coming soon, I wanted to take care of this ASAP. I read many people talking about how horrible the cans were and how they wouldn't spray, but I took a chance anyways. I ended up losing the bet. 95% of the product oozes out from under the cap. Obviously I shook the can, I tried heating it up like other reviews said, I tried other nozzles and cans, same result. I don't even care about the money, just the time lost and inconvenience. How after so much time and feedback they can't have a properly designed can boggles my mind. I strongly do not recommend this product.

The product itself seems to work well, but getting it where you want it is near impossible due to the poor dispensing. The nozzle clogs frequently and requires spraying it with brake cleaner to clear it. In addition, product escapes outside the nozzle and runs down the side of the can, then my hand/arm. I've been using other Blaster products for awhile, but this is extremely disappointing. I'm not sure how this can/nozzle dispenser made it through engineering validation.

I went to spray my new jeep and 4 of the 6 cans sprayed good immediately and then after a few minutes of applying they stopped spraying completely. They still have half to 2/3rds of product in the can. Very disappointing I was very hopeful of this product. Can's were warmed up to 70 degrees before application.

Thought I would try Blaster Surface Shield over fluid film. Purchased five cans only to realize that there are no good methods of spraying hard to reach areas and inside frame rails. Fluid film has a bunch of long reach nozzle options, I spent more trying various long reach nozzles than I did on the surface shield itself and none of them worked well, all of them wound up spraying horribly and oozing more product out at the can instead of out the tip of the nozzle/hose. Blaster needs to come up with their own optional nozzle system designed to work with their cans otherwise I will stick with Fluid Film even if I do have to respray every year instead of every 2.
