the glow feature isn't by light it's contrasting glow in the dark. someone with Macular Degeneration can't see the illuminated numbers and needs a light up version.

Watch face : This was to be a gift for my senior husband. The numbers are great but the hands are too small. He could not see them. He has Parkinson's and was frustrated trying to see the hands.

does not light up at night.
do not be confused with the picture of this watch. I bought it specifically because it said illuminated dials and numbers. I could barely read the light green numbers and they were not for reading at night. in other words the dials did not light up in the dark. very disappointing
