several broken halters later I finally broke down and spent the $30 to keep this in my trailer. at the last outing he pulled back a couple times and was sooo confused that he hadn't broke his halter. what a stinker. well worth the money. wish I'd bought it months ago.
I was tacking my young OTTB horse with him tied with my standard pony club quick release on a baling twine. He freaked out and the baling twine did not break and made things way worse. Ever since then he had been nervous to be tied and kept trying to break away. I got this. The first time he got nervous he pulled and it released and he relaxed. After using this for a week or two, he is back to his normal self and happy to be tied. It provides just the right amount of pressure. They know they are tied but that they can also get away if they need to. Not to mention, it is way easier than doing a quick release knot every time.
Really like these. Replaced all my bungie ties with theses for both barn & trailer. Panic snaps can become a missile if they release suddenly on a bungie. These, on the other hand, release slowly, easing out only as much as needed to eliminate panic. There are instructions for creating several levels of tension and I use them on the second loop tension. My only minor criticism is that for this price they should be stainless steel.
This is such a great product to have in your barn. Initially I purchased this to help with tie training for my 3 year old, but have since used it all around the barn and trailering. The carabiner snap makes it easy to relocate around as needed - until you realize how great these are and purchase multiples. The 'tie ring' works great with all different types of ropes and is so easy to latch. I currently keep one on a tie post, two as crosstie options and have multiples in my trailer for easy trailer loading and tying at the trailer. Highly, highly recommend this product to all levels of horses, but really such a great tool for those youngsters learning to tie!
I tie all my horses to blocker tie rings. I have had horses pull back when tied to them and they don't panic nor do they pull so much lead rope that they get loose. I recommend them to every horse person as one of the safest ways to tie a horse.
When I first got Boo she couldn't be trusted to tie at all, once I got the tie ring and a little guidance from Clinton Anderson I can leave her tied for hours without worry! I do have to say that the chrome plate has a habit of flacking off and rusting, but they do make a stainless steal one.
I think it's a necessary item. I have faith that it will work correctly, maybe better than a piece of twine or the plastic clips. I think you have to have discipline about how you put the rope through to avoid a possible finger issue from what I've read, but I don't have a problem being careful about it.
Hi, I like the Blocker tie ring, but it automatically comes with extra parts (eye bolt and a small caribeaner) that I don't need or couldn't use. I have to buy my own ‘beaner in a larger size to fit my horse trailer fittings, so I would rather be able to buy the separate pieces separately bc now I have pieces I won't use.
Under 3 months and rust is affecting use. Bought two of these, one magnet works better than the other and tends to pop open. Rust affects use at joints. Really disappointed as I heard so many good things. Perhaps the stainless steel ones Clinton Anderson markets are better. Just really feeling not worth the expense.
Nope, NEVER AGAIN will we use the Blocker Tie Ring II on a 'broke' horse nor a colt, and cannot recommend it to anyone without an above average trainer physically present - otherwise, a well trained horse MIGHT learn to pull back. Hate the Blocker Tie Ring (original or "II") and have seen it over-recommended by long-distance or one-day 'experts' who don't really know your equine. Instead, use a quick release knot or the Smart Tie "Clip", https://www.smarttieproducts.com/online-store/the-safe-clip
