This is so useful because I can make it each day and have 3 fresh glasses.of delicious ice tea. I may make 2 batches on a really hot day. And it really has a cool look!
I bought the Tea Jay about a couple weeks ago and love it. This is the easiest way to make iced tea yet. Great ability to control the flavor strength, which is key with different tea blends. I hesitated due to cost but so happy I bought. Well worth it!
The amount of iced tea this makes is just right for me, and it's convenient to use for any kind of loose leaf tea. It's nice to brew the tea in the same container that holds the final iced product, just one container to deal with. The mechanism is clever, although not obvious. The top has two parts, the stainless steel top, and a tea insert inside of that. The insert has threads, and screws down (turn the insert cap to the right, just like a screw) to be leak proof when brewing, and loosens when turned to the left to rise up and and let the brewed tea drain down onto the ice. Turn the insert back to the tight position so the pouring cutout on one side of the tea insert aligns with the spout, to let the tea pour out when serving. The insert has two notches on its rim, one smaller than the other, that indicate how the insert cap should be put onto the insert. The small and larger notches correspond to the point and back of the "arrow" of the insert cap handle. If the cap is not inserted into the notches, turning it won't turn the insert. If the insert cap is put on properly, its arrow pointing to the spout is the closed position, and is also the spout alignment (pour) position, while the arrow pointing to the back is the position that lets the tea drain down over the ice. Keep turning to the left and you can remove the insert for cleaning. Once you take a close look at the insert and insert cap, and see these features, it's easy to understand and remember how to use the Tea-Jay. (The illustrations-only instructions are a bit lacking.)
This was a splurge for me! I wanted something that was pretty and easy to use. I use this in my garden while I am reading and it is just perfect. It is easy to hold because of the rubber on the top. The ice tea makers makes a perfect glass of ice tea.
So easy to use. Works perfectly. Presents very well when serving guests. Using it more than I anticipated.
This only takes a couple minutes to use to make fresh ice tea daily. It also seems to make the ice tea taste better using this technique. We have been drinking a ton more cold tea now then ever before.
I really enjoyed using this iced tea maker, the glass is thick and sturdy, and the tea filter is very fine. Watching the hot tea flow into the carafe is beautiful to watch while sitting around the table, people love that part. I used 4 teaspoons of Raspberry Nectar loose leaf tea, and put some raspberries and honey in with the ice (I wished I had lime slices and mint at the time, will try next time). It makes enough iced tea to share with one other person. Looking forward to using this more over the summer. My only complaint is there is no "locked" or "unlocked" icons on the reservoir cap. A visual would be helpful, as it needs to be "locked" before you add the water, and you must "unlock" it to let the hot tea flow over the ice. And the instruction booklet inside reminds me of IKEA, a little cumbersome and quirky, but the video is much better!
I really enjoy loose leaf tea. I wanted to treat myself with this ice tea maker. Once I figured out how to brew it does exactly what I want it to do. I was disappointed there were no instructions included. Once you unlock the secret to brewing it's great but I had to search online through several videos.
I haven't used this yet but wanted to mention that the reservoir where the tea seems is made of plastic. I thought it was stainless steel when I bought it but that's not the case. It also didn't come with instructions. Instructions are here on this website.
I was very disappointed when I received this only to learn that the tea steeps in a plastic capsule located inside of the stainless top. I also didnt understand why there is no lid for the glass carafe if you want to store in the fridge. Not worth the money.
