My first purchase has become my new favorite. Starts easily in a chimney, burns hot, burns long, almost no ash.Glad I didn't read some of these reviews, or I'd have overlooked some great charcoal. I won't be using anything else in my Big Green Eggs or my smoker.
I have buying this for a while now...burns hot and clean plus I can get 2 cook outs worth with a grill full...burger.fish and steak taste great
This is our go to charcoal in our Green Egg. No stinky oily tast, no nasty over smoked flavor. Just excellent burning , clean cooking coals.
OK, I can't claim to have tried every lump 'coal out there but I've tried everything at the local grill go-to. This is by far the best. Even sized, very little dust and crap to foul your air flow and the clean up is almost zero. Maybe 2 cups tops (from an XL Green Egg, fully loaded). I'm astonished how little mess there is to deal with. Temp is easily regulated and there is almost always plenty of coals left over. So much win here...
I bought 2 bags of the blue's hog lump charcoal and found the same results both times... there was pink insulation threw out the bag... and it also is strange how the have straight one by pieces scattered threw out the bag as well, I thought once was bad now twice and over priced
Not satisfied at all with the 4 lbs of rocks I found in a 20 lb bag I have never seen this before and I will not buy any products from a company with a QC problem.
We bought this to use to grill on 4th of July when it was the only product available. Why not try it out? We followed the instructions and could not get this charcoal to stay lit. A man walked by, saw the trouble my husband was having and asked him if he never grilled before. Ouch! After having his pride hurt, someone gave us different charcoal and it started right up. We ditched the rest of the Blue Hog bag near the grills. Maybe someone else will have better luck.
I've bought my first bag of the Blue Hog lump charcoal 3-4 years ago and at the time, I thought it was the best I'd used. The last three bags I've purchased, about 1/4 to 1/3 the bag was charcoal dust. I won't purchase the Blue Hog lump charcoal any longer.
I bought two bags of your charcoal hoping it would be different than others. Specifically, hoping the bag would, for the most part, be USABLE pieces. Unfortunately, it is the same as others. Half of the bag is pieces so small they fall thru the grate and are unusable. This basically doubles the price of the usable charcoal.
i found a 1-1/2 pound rock in my bag of charcoal. i'll never buy again . and it looks like blues hog doesn't care about quality in all their products
