Bob's Red Mill Cake Mix, Chocolate, Gluten Free, 16 oz

This mix was quite tasty and moist, unlike some gluten free products. I used a fresh bottle of canola oil for this mix (old oil can have its own bad flavors), and used this mix for cupcakes. The chocolate taste was very rich, the cake texture quite moist. Be careful on how long you bake, I pulled mine too soon to check the doneness and it affected the rise.

The best! I added chocolate chips, layered with your cherry pie filling %26 frosted with real whipped cream. To die for....so chocolaty %26 moist.

My family knows the results of this mix as “my recipe” it's so rich moist! I've made both layer cakes & cupcakes with this mix; my family and I prefer the cupcake version (personal preference, the cake tasted fine!). The package has a wonderful cream cheese frosting recipe that is just as easy to make as the cupcakes! Tip: I found I could easily half the frosting recipe for the cupcake version. I've made regular chocolate cake from scratch before, and it was a bit of a headache and the ingredients alone cost more than this package. TL;DR You won't be sorry you bought this mix! Easy instructions, great taste, wonderful & easy cream cheese recipe on package. I just purchased two cases.

This is my go-to chocolate cake mix for all occasions, whether my guests are gluten free or not. I use oil instead of melted butter because I think it makes a very moist cake. I make a frosting with gluten free chocolate chips melted and mixed with equal parts milk and we use it for celebrations as well as dessert. I also use it to make muffins and I pour a syrupy mix of the same choc chips and milk over the top of each and let it drip down the sides.

Love this cake mix - my sons love it too and they are not restricted from gluten. When I made my son a regular chocolate cake that had wheat flour in it, he said he no longer liked that kind of cake and preferred the gluten free Bob's Red Mill chocolate cake. This cake is also good for variety - adding sugar free marshmallows to it or mayonnaise to make the cake moister and closer to a brownie texture that is delicious, especially with nuts in it. Top it with sugar free Cool Whip and it is hard not to have another piece!

Made more cake than the package said. Was supposed to make 12 cupcakes, but made 14 and still overflowed the cups into muffin tops. Was very liquidy. The taste was great. Next time will add less liquid and see what happens-it could be the high altitude in Denver.

I ordered the gluten free chocolate cake but received brownies. *sigh*
