The best for my corn stuffing. I like that this mix is lower in sugar than other brands and of a courser grind. I've tried to make muffins once and my one dislike is that they ended up more crumbly than other brands' mixes. But for corn stuffing - this mix is the best.
Such an easy recipe - within 40 minutes I have fresh cornbread that tastes delicious! I eat two pieces a night before bed with honey and milk (warmed up) and it puts me right to sleep. The taste is excellent! Best I've had in comparison to other cornbread mixes! Thank you!
Very tasty yet quite grainy. My batch did not cook well as a "loaf", guess I should have stuck to an 8" x 8" pan. It was too soft, somewhat uncooked in the middle. Oh well!! Final result I really prefer making cornbread from scratch, which is quite easy, so I will next time skip the mix. This is just an opinion...overall I really do love the Bob's Red Mill Brand.
Sorry, I'm not a fan of this mix yet. I found the "as specified" method of mixing and baking with this mix to not work very well. The finished product was extremely crumbly and would not hold together enough to spread butter let alone honey! probably needs another egg? I'm guessing, not not sure. Taste wise it was okay, but not near as good as a simple Fanny Farmer cook book cornbread. I could see this working well for dressing though.
I buy this again. The chemical after taste is not good at all. Assuming it's the sodium bicarbonate, but hard to tell. I like Bobs, but this is one that I'll never buy again when it comes to cornbread mix. I'd rather grind up my own cornmeal from scratch.
Bought this initially to make cornbread for my Thanksgiving cornbread stuffing. One thing for which I am VERY THANKFUL for this year is that, in the end, I chose to use Whole Foods pre-made cornbread instead as I was running out of time. Just made this as muffins yesterday and they are horrible!! Taste is metallic and overly salty/baking soda flavor maybe? I even added fresh blueberries and a little lemon zest to them as I was expecting these to be sweet and moist and yummy. Wow. What an absolute disappoint. Even fresh and hot out of the oven they were terrible. Even slathered with butter- terrible. Next day- just as terrible. First time to be so roundly disappointed in. Product from Bob's. I used to buy your products without reservation - I guess no longer. Buyer beware in this product for sure! The remaining 9 muffins are in the trash.
Bob! What Happened? I was looking forward to a delicious, moist, slightly sweet cornbread with my chili tonight and I'm so sorry to say that your Stone Ground Cornbread and Muffin Mix was none of these things! It was prepared and cooked according to package directions. It was very wet when it went into the oven but came out crumbly, dry, and flavorless. Unfortunately, more than 2/3 of an 8X8 pan of cornbread hit the trash can right after dinner. I usually like your products. However, this is one I cannot recommend.
I'll start by saying I'm a huge fan of Bob's Redmill, but their cornbread needs improvement. Excited to make game day chili and cornbread, but the cornbread center wouldn't bake. Added 15 min more baking time, but still runny in the middle. At this point, the edges were starting to burn. Added 15 more minutes, and the center still would not bake. I thought it might be my oven, but I baked something earlier, and it came out perfect. After reading some of the reviews realized that it's the mix. My recommendation is to buy another brand. This cornbread mix is not a winner. If the company can please reach out to me, I would like a refund or replacement. -Daniel
I'd give it a zero if I could. Purchased by mistake(was in the slot for gluten free cornbread) but went ahead and made it for my husband. First it was much more runny than the GF but thought it was due to different version. My husband took one bite and threw out the rest. Said it was unpleasant taste and texture. Our vote is for the GF version instead. Wasn't going to write a review but decided I appreciate getting to check all reviews for products.
Very strange mix! I made this for my grandchildren, followed directions exactly and it came out with a playdough consistency. Luckily i had a package of Jiffy in the cupboard and whipped that up - perfect corn muffins. Very disappointed with this!! W
