After searching the web for the best price, I purchased this oat bran from Walmart. It was delivered very quickly and arrived safely. I add this to my regular oatmeal to increase the fiber and nutrition content. It has a totally different texture than regular quick cook oatmeal and is a little smaller than steel cut oats. If you'd like to give your regular oatmeal a boost, give this a try.
Bob red mill offers GLUTEN FREE oat bran.. delicious as a creamy hot cereal fabulous for GF recipes good fiber source..
I need this to make my granola. It arrived quickly
Good consistent oat bran. No junk added, no sugar, and no to few hulls or foreign material. Just good oat bran. Purchased 100+ bags. All good
I have Celiac and one of the things I missed the most was Cream of Wheat. "Oh, eat Cream of Rice" everyone said. NOT the same or even close.....so blah. Oat Bran is so close to tasting like my favorite missed food and oat bran is a super food for lowering cholesterol (and all of my values are super low ;) ) This has become my "go to" food !
Maintaining a gluten-free diet isn't always easy, but I love the flavor of this oat bran cereal, and I can use it as a substitute in a lot of recipes that call for flour or oatmeal. It makes a really delicious coating for my baked chicken, and I am expecting good things in my Apple Crumble recipe.
I don't actually use this as hot cereal. I bake with it! I have a recipe from Bob's that dates back to the 1980s, using whole grain teff and oat bran. We love those muffins, and I just needed to restock the oat bran. The flakes are the perfect size for whole grain baking!
We like Bob's Mill in everything we have tried. My husband is gluten free and we can count on Bob's Mill to be most like original. The flour is the best! We had to order oat bran because we couldn't find it in any stores around here. Keep up the gluten free!
I didn't get to use it as the bag was open and the contents were spilled in the box and a good portion of it ended up on the floor.
A friend picked this up for me as a winter-time hot cereal. I cooked it in the microwave, following directions explicitly. I would describe the result as "an unpalatable glutenous mess." Afterwards I noticed it was gluten free, which may or may not have played a part in the end result. BTW: I've been a fan of Bob's Red Mill products for years, but this particular one not so much.
