It's a very high quality product and I would recommend if you like oats!
I have been buying Bob's oats for ages, but this was the first time slow-cooking their steel-cut oats. With an Instant Pot we made slow-cooked apple-cinnamon oatmeal, which turned out perfectly. Only use steel-cut oats for slow-cooking! The texture and flavor were perfect, and thanks to the sweetness of the diced apples only a small amount of maple syrup was needed. Slow-cooked oatmeal will become a staple during fall and winter.
I tried steel cut oats for the first time today. It was good, but I was surprised that the oats did not soak up all the water. I treated the liquid as a substitute for milk and added some seeds, nuts, dried cranberries. Should the oats have soaked up all the water? I cooked the oats for 22 minutes and allowed it to sit for 2 minutes after I took it away from the heat.
Wonderful product....only oatmeal I buy. It needs to cook for 30 minutes. I make enough for 5 days or so at one time...1/2 water, 1/2 milk. I thin it with a little milk before I nuke it.
Bob's steel-cut oatmeal is my husband's favorite! It's got a great consistency, chewy and nutty! For me, it's easy to make, and tasty, too. Swanson has the best price around.
Love the texture of the oats after cooking .
These steel cut oats are an excellent choice to start the day, especially on cold mornings. I enjoy taking the time to cook these oats, adding my choices of extras, and relaxing over breakfast. They are flavorful, and always fresh. In fact, I've started ordering them online so I don't run out.
Mostly good.
I have been eating Bob's for the last 4 years, I am not sure if it was me or Bob's but I always used the quick cooking. Regrettably, I now have 4 big bags of the standard oats and it isn't as user friendly as I would like. The good news is when Ido cook the oats they are first class and make for a great breakfast.
I'm not a fan. To be fair, I love all other whole grain cereal products I have purchased from Bob's Red Mill but just cannot get into the steel cut oats, which are really good for the body. I love the organic and gluten free rolled oats, 5, 7, and 10 grain hot cereal and the high fiber hot cereal. But I'll have to pass on the steel cut oats.
