I used to have a pair of warm and fluffy Hello Kitty earmuffs that had a rotating adjustable plastic band, so I could make them smaller and fold them like a Slinky - this meant they'd fit around my arm like an armband when I wasn't wearing them on my head - out of the way, yet easily accessible. I used them throughout 4 upstate winters, until one day the plastic band finally snapped. When I saw these, I thought I'd finally found a replacement.... Not hardly.
The first thing I noticed was how flat and stiff the fake-fur covered muffs were. And I suppose because they were so flat and stiff, they also had to be huge, so as to be a covering for any size ear. But like a stove-sized cardboard blanket atop a huddling hobo, they were nowhere close to giving "warm %26 cozy" vibes.
No matter - perhaps they just needed time to conform to my ears. It was the rotating adjustable band I was really after. So, I carefully untwis -SNAP- ... . The plastic band snapped off at the joint.
Returned.
