Constantly get compliments on my floors!

Mac24 August 11, 2015

I find some of the reviews for this product amazing in that I have been using this product for the last 5 years on the same red oak hardwood floors. I find it easy to use , no milky film and I get many compliments on my floors as to how beautiful they look. A few tips. I pick a time to do floors when NO one will be home to walk on them for several hours. I first sweep, vac and then clean with the Bona Cleaner. It has to dry completely for an hour at least. I then use the product in divided areas and make sure it is spread evenly on the floors with the long blue mop. It is left to dry for 2 hours. One review talked about using it on tile. Be sure it is the Bona product for tile not hardwoods.

Great Product!

cat1048 April 28, 2019

All the negative reviews! I have to wonder if anyone read the instructions? I have been using Bona floor products going on 10 years on the same floors and I have to say, that the one or two times I have hurried through, I have gotten some milky streaking and it was all my fault. You have to clean your floors with the Bona cleaner and let them dry thoroughly. Once dry, working small sections you apply the Bona Polish going with the grain of the wood (when possible) you have to work quickly and try to get an even coating. You can not let anyone walk on the floors for at least an hour afterward, longer if it is humid - overnight is best. As long as I do this, each and every time I have substantially shinier floors and my floors have the finish worn away in some places. They do not look like new but they look 100 times better after I polish with Bona. With 2 dogs, there's really no reason to refinish my floors right now. This is a great compromise! As long as you read the directions and take your time, your floors will turn out great.

Decent product

Anonymous April 16, 2015

I recently moved into a new-to-me home that was built in the 1950's with original hardwood still in place. I cleaned the floors extremely well and put the polish down in one room last night and this morning am very pleased with the results. It doesn't appear to have a milky appearance at all. I hope it doesn't happen over time, based off others reviews. But for now, I am pleased with the appearance and hope it stands against my small pups and their nails.

Try it yourself before believing negative reviews

Floor professional July 28, 2016

Before you decide to not try this product because of the negative reviews here, you need to try it yourself. Too often people are using completely incompatible cleaners and polishes with their hardwood floors. Blame your lack of knowledge, not the product! It is your responsibility to know what you are walking on and if your floor is in any way waxed, oiled, etc. then this is NOT what you want to use! Think water and oil. This is meant for water based finishes. Also be wary if you are using this on a floor that you did not originally purchase or install. I believe this is where a lot of problems occur. Sometimes previous owners/tenants use something like Pledge or Murphy's oil soap and that's where your problems begin. These will put an oily layer over your nice finish, not always noticeable at first and if you were to apply this Bona polish over it then it will definitely appear as a cloudy buildup. Your best bet is to thoroughly clean and maybe use a light abrasive/stripper to clean any gunk off the finish before any polish application. And still, try a small test area first before doing the whole floor. So long as you're using the polish as intended, this is one of the best ways to go about refreshing and concealing minor surface scratches in a urethane floor without needing to do a full sand and recoat. It won't make your floors perfect like the day they were installed

Polish remover

Lucy17 December 3, 2018

This product is extremely difficult to use. If you have to remove polish from your floor I suggest you consult a professional first. Chances are that after use of this product your going to need a professional anyway. I would not recommend this product at all!!

Milky white floors

Tammy H May 2, 2018

I have been using Bona products for the past 5 years with good results. So, I had no problem with buying the floor polish until I used the product. My floors look terrible! They now had a milky looking haze on them! How am I suppose tp get this stuff off my floors? Bona, this product needs reworking and should be taking off the market. Should I be concerned now about the rest of the cleaners? Help!

Horrible

Frantic August 4, 2018

I applied this to my floors and had a streaky mess. Then I started reading reviews on the product. I decided to call the company and they said I didn't use enough to recoat the floors with a second coat. Why I did this I don't know. So the result was an even coverage of a dull milky floor. I've removed about half of it and my floors look like brand new. Unfortunately this is a horrible process of removal. I have purchased a buffer machine to assist with the rest of the removal. Never ever use this product. I'm not convinced that using the cleaner is a good idea either. I'm going to stick with vinegar and water. I can't believe there has not been a class action lawsuit against this company. I have about $150 into this project not counting my time. Also who knows what I have done to my health by making this mistake. Please put a warning on this stuff to read customer reviews before using.

How do I remove the Low gloss finish from floor?

Niky August 18, 2017

Like all the bad reviews on here , I have the same problem of cloudy finish and foot marks all over the place. I noticed that where ever there is natural light falling on the floor , it makes it look dull filled with foot marks. You do not notice it in shady areas. Now looking for solution to this. Going by the reviews , the Bona polish remover does not work. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Worst product

Belle May 3, 2018

Like the others have said, this product left a horrible residue on my dark hardwoods, and is proving almost impossible to remove. Do NOT ever use this!! And when you call Bona to ask how to remove they recommend using their brand polish remover . I will never use another Bona product.

Ruined my floors

ecoll August 17, 2017

I wish I would have read reviews on this product first. I used the low shine polish on my four year old floors. I followed directions exactly, and now my floors are hazy and milky white. I have been using the Bona floor cleaner for years, and never thought anything like this would happen. I am absolutely sick that my floors are ruined and I don't know what to do. DO NOT buy this product, especially if you have darker floors.
