I see that many people are giving this product very negative reviews. Our experience could not be more different--we are very, very pleased with the results this polish has given us over the years. Our house was built in 1988 with hardwood floors throughout the entire first floor. Never refinished or buffed, just periodic use of Bona Cleaner and Polish. For example, this picture shows the floor in a small room near our garage. This is where we hang our coats, our washer and dryer are here, also pantry shelving, plus our shredder and paper recycling. In other words, we walk into this room dozens of times a day. And this is how the floor looks after 29 years of use. All I can say is that those people who have had bad experiences must not be applying the product correctly. Our results have been very positive.
I find some of the reviews for this product amazing in that I have been using this product for the last 5 years on the same red oak hardwood floors. I find it easy to use , no milky film and I get many compliments on my floors as to how beautiful they look. A few tips. I pick a time to do floors when NO one will be home to walk on them for several hours. I first sweep, vac and then clean with the Bona Cleaner. It has to dry completely for an hour at least. I then use the product in divided areas and make sure it is spread evenly on the floors with the long blue mop. It is left to dry for 2 hours. One review talked about using it on tile. Be sure it is the Bona product for tile not hardwoods.
I have light colored oak (no stain) that was finished with Bona water based poly products last year. I wanted to freshen up the floor. I went with Bona because I knew my floor contractor refinished the floors last year with a Bona product. They came out great. All the reviews that were negative scared me- but I think it works for me because I have a known Bona finish and my floor is light in color with a satin finish (not gloss to start with). Here are some photos (one with sunlight, one without)
I recently moved into a new-to-me home that was built in the 1950's with original hardwood still in place. I cleaned the floors extremely well and put the polish down in one room last night and this morning am very pleased with the results. It doesn't appear to have a milky appearance at all. I hope it doesn't happen over time, based off others reviews. But for now, I am pleased with the appearance and hope it stands against my small pups and their nails.
This product is extremely difficult to use. If you have to remove polish from your floor I suggest you consult a professional first. Chances are that after use of this product your going to need a professional anyway. I would not recommend this product at all!!
Just came home to find that my wife used this. I noticed that the "pop" on my beautiful Lauzon red oak floors is gone. Streaks everywhere. I can not get this stuff off. HELP. I tried a light wipe of mineral oil and even that failed to remove this horrible product. Do not use this unless you have price of your flooring you can test on first. I'm sick over this.
I wish I would have read reviews on this product first. I used the low shine polish on my four year old floors. I followed directions exactly, and now my floors are hazy and milky white. I have been using the Bona floor cleaner for years, and never thought anything like this would happen. I am absolutely sick that my floors are ruined and I don't know what to do. DO NOT buy this product, especially if you have darker floors.
I put my house on the market to sell and decided a low gloss polish might add a nice touch. I tested a small area and from above it seemed to add a small gloss. I did the rest of the floor over 500 sq feet. The next morning the floor was completely cloudy. I tryed Mopping and other cleaning items to no prevail... I have an interested buyer coming back for a 2nd time (before she puts in a offer) and I have 2 days to resolve this so I don't lose the sale.... Very disappointed with this product to say the least!!!!!
Moved into a new house and used the cleaner and the polish and it looked great. It had been a while since using the polish so thought I would use it today on my floor. My floors now look HORRIBLE!!!! They have a white film on them and you can see where everyone has been walking. How do I get this off my floor!!!!!
We have 120 people coming to our home tomorrow and my husband bought this by mistake instead of the regular product we use. It ruined our floors and if you notice they have their own remover which can't be bought at stores. So now what. Very disappointed
