Works great. Used to infill some rotten wood at bottom of exterior door. Use Bondo Rotten Wood Restorer first for similar projects. Follow instructions and work in small batches. Creates a lot of dust when sanding. Wear N95 mask when sanding ir grinding. Takes paint primer well. Saved me from buying new exterior doors!
I bought this to use on a laminate desk that had some damaged spots. We could not find directions on the can itself, so we googled how to mix it correctly. Not difficult to do. I mixed a small batch and got to work filling in the damaged spots. It does start to harden fairly quickly so I made sure not to mix too much at a time. I probably did 4 or 5 small batches and got everything filled that I needed to. It was dry enough to sand that same day but I didn't have time to do it. So several days later, I got our orbital sander out and started with 80 grit to take off the high spots. Then I moved to 220 grit to smooth everything out. It did a nice job. I will be priming the pieces soon and then painting everything, but the surfaces that I repaired are so smooth. I'm sure I'll be using Bondo on other projects now that I've had the chance to work with it.
3M Bondo is a fantastic product for repairing wood damage...I've used it for years in the construction remodeling business....My advice to a new user... 1. start with a small amount of hardener, if you use to much it will harden to fast, especially on a hot day 2. have the necessary tools laid out: mixing container or slab of wood, putty knife, (the 3pack of 3M Bondo plastic spreaders are excellent for working with Bondo)
I like the price, got it fairly quickly, was easy to work with, sets up quickly, easy to sand. Can be stained. I have a very large planter that broke during the winter. After I glued it together a few small pieces were missing and there was a 1/4 - 1/2" crack that ran the height of the pot (28"). filled the crack and missing pieces with Bondo. Sanded the bondo and then stained it with wood stain. Repair looks great. Wife is happy!
This stuff is AWESOME . Far better than regular putty products. But be sure you trim it close before it gets very hard, That way you save yourself lots of labor. Very waterproof, sticks tenaciously to most surfaces. Use the "cheese grater" type tools to trim it when it starts to firm up.
So happy I ordered this. I have been putting off repairs to my vinyl siding. This putty is great for this kind of project. I'm ready to try it out on other projects when the weather gets nicer.
This product is a great one after it hardens. The challenge is that it hardens quickly so you need to deliberately prepare for once you stir in the hardener. Then placing it precisely where you planned so that in the 1-2 minutes you have its where you want it and tailored as planned.
You sent me original bono and I ordered all purpose putty… I wanted the all purpose putty that was in the photo when I ordered it… It's now discontinued and I thought you had a few cans left…I was not expecting original bondo cans They are not the same product… Original Bondo is a new and I am not sure if it will work for me…. Shipping was very good..
Delivery was delayed couple of times. Also, the package of bondo was damaged to the extent of the can having 2 holes and putty is hard. I will have to return for another which delays the project again.
