Customer Insights: Rated 3.52/5 from 21 reviews.
I bought this movie without ever hearing anything about it. It had some good actors I enjoyed watching and it turned out to be an awesome movie. I suspect a smaller budget but it delivers. A great western about facing impossible odds from completely different people who all made a decision like they had no other choice. It does have a little creepiness to it that adds suspense.
obviously a bunch of Karen's didnt like the movie. i thought it was great. it seemed realistic
I can't understand some of the previous reviewers. This movie was absolutely amazing. The cinematography, acting, ambiance and gruesome nature of the film was top notch. Kurt Russel was in his element here, and I was very enthralled by Matthew Fox's portrayal of a gentleman gunslinger (definitely his best role). The cast (several notable names) held a believable rapport, and realism that is often missed in movies. This movie would be a great stand alone Western by itself, but with the violent cannibal aspect, and the characters reaction to the extreme circumstances, I found it thoroughly enjoying. In a world of prequels, sequels and remakes, it is nice to see something truly original again. Kudos to the writer, director and producer who made this film with no money or backing from any studios, and shot a film exactly the way the wanted to.
I did not receive a digital copy of the movie as the advertisements on the packaging indicated. I enjoyed the movie I just did not receive what was advertised.
I love westerns so to see one with Kurt Russell, I thought would be a good choice. It's not bad. It's slow at the beginning, but you get to know the characters. It gets more interesting as you go along into the story and the last quarter of the film gets good. Overall it makes another good western for my collection. I liked it also because it's a true widescreen experience and not a zoomed in movie.
This was a cross between PREDATOR and GUNSMOKE. You kinda knew what was coming. Name of movie follows plot throughout. Strangely written and directed. One of the people watching with us said - Whoever dreams this kinda of movie up has a drug problem. Entertaining. Has one GROSS scene - YOU WILL KNOW IT WHEN YOU GET THERE. Watch it if you have nothing else to do.
Kurt Russell must like the way he looks in an old-timey, handlebar mustache. That is the only reason I can imagine he agreed to this movie. Very slow, story-line is ridiculous, and did I mention slow? Harkens to The Last Dog Soldier. Save your money!
Unbelievable
This is without a doubt the worst western of the decade. Its villains are Troglodytes?!?!?!?!. The script has as much imagination as a high school class movie project. Bad writing and bad acting. Kurt Russell, as well as the other big name actors, in it should be ashamed of their participation. What a waste!
grossly violent. far too much graphic, no reason for it
