My husband is a diabetic with a non working pancreas. He has been prescribed to drink 2 ensures for diabetics per day by his gastroenterologist. Living in a smaller community made the quantity he needs hard for us to find always. Being able to order on line and have delivered to our home, made this much easier. Also when we travel we can have some sent to the store in the town we will be at and at no extra cost and he will always have his prescribed nutrition.
I have Type 2 diabetes controlled with medications, diet and exercise (no insulin). I have found this product to be a great addition to my diet plan when I need a quick meal to get me through to the next snack or meal time. This is a very flavorful drink with no after taste like so many reduced nutritional drinks. This happens to be chocolate but I use vanilla as well and it's just as good. The balanced protein to carbohydrates is important and fits my plan most excellently. I'm 72 years old with a consistent A1C of 6.4.
This is a great product especially for diabetics, delicious flavor and very filling when you want something and don't know what. Helps control your blood sugar. I don't understand why the vanilla is so much more expensive than the chocolate. The chocolate was only $15.98 for a cartion of 12 and the vanilla was over $25 for the same amount. I was also under the understanding that if you had your order shipped to the store the shipping was free but I did not get free shipping andhad to make a trip to town to pick it up.
We use one of these each morning for our 8 year old. She has problems with reactive hypoglycemia. She needs a low sugar/high protein option that she can take before school, and that will tide her over until lunchtime at school. Boost stabilizes her sugar from the ups and downs she experienced before. If her sugar is stable her moods are better and she can focus on learning.
Boost does help me better control my diabetes, It is great for breakfast if it is a hectic morning.morning. As I take two shots of insulin a day I drink one a night after my injection to make sure my glucose does not get to low as I sleep. I drink one everyday. I have to order it on line because our local Wal Marts are always out of stock. Free shipping is a blessing I take it every where I go. Vacations, weekend get, to doctor appointments. I personally only like the chocolate. It is delicious. It is a bit pricey but if it helps, there is no choice. I wish I could use manufacturer coupons on line. They are hard to find but even that $2-3 would help with the cost
Decided to try Boost after several weeks on Another product designed for the diabetic. Found Boost to be rich in flavor, delicious as a treat and satisfying as an occasional replacement. Would definitely recommend!
I've been trying to help a neighbor who was recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, which is not unusual for someone in their 80's. She is a retired dietician, and has been so disappointed with other products because they all have so much sugar in them! These don't, and I have already ordered more!
Not just for the elderly! If you have a finicky eater, this is a great supplement to their regular diet. Tastes great and even good for recovering from illness..... Seriously, if it tastes good and is good for you, why would you not buy it??? Just makes all kinds of sense! My hubby just doesn't east a balanced diet and has also been ill, so we tried it and now, I believe he will have them everyday regardless just because he likes them so much! My mother also drinks these (glucose control, though). She loves them too. We almost need to restrict her from drinking too many a day! They really do taste that good. Restrict not because it's bad for her, but because it is so expensive! Good at any age, just a good supplement to any diet. Makes certain they have a balanced diet! Not just for the elderly!
I have ordered from Wal Mart three time and all three times I have received damaged shipments. Cases broke open and the bottle with big dents and little dents and all over the place.
Almost every time, this time included, the boxes are crushed. The outside, shipping box was in good shape. But my Boost bottles are bent, some even OUTDATED. Who ever packed these products should be reprimanded, re-trained, or fired.
