Bose Home Speaker 500 Wireless Smart Speaker with Google Assistant - Black

I was so excited to get the Bose Home Speaker 500. This is a smart speaker with google assistant voice control built in. You can also pair this great speaker with your Amazon Alexa. The speaker appears to be superb quality and has a seamless anodized aluminum body giving it a beautiful finish. It is quite heavy too and would be difficult for animals to knock over. The sound that comes from this speaker is simply amazing. It is very loud and crisp. Inside the wireless speaker are two custom drivers that point in opposite directions for the purpose of bouncing sound off the walls. Since Google Assistant is built-in you will have access to any song or playlist. The device is great at hearing you speak, even if the volume is turned loud. This is accomplished by eight microphones that are located on it. The device is easy to use and pretty self-explanatory. You can control it from controls located on the top of the speaker or you should also be able to control it from the Bose Music app, which is a recommended download to your phone. You may also choose to use wi-fi, Bluetooth, or Apple AirPlay 2 - all of which are compatible. You may also choose to play from Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, or anything stored on your smart device. The speaker has the capability to set up to six different presets. You could choose to set them to playlists, internet radio stations, etc. You can also access any number of things, such as weather reports and setting timers. My only complaint so far with this great speaker is the Bose Music app. It is my understanding that the app can act as a remote control; however, mine will not work. I have downloaded the app and created an account but every single time I attempt to sign it it tells me there is a problem and to try again later. I have googled this problem and have yet to see a solution on how to make the app work. All in all, the speaker is amazing. The app may still have issues to work through.

Bought to enhance my Bose SoundTouch range with the added voice control feature and grouping with my 700 soundbar. Firstly soundbar wouldn't update its software to enable grouping so had to be sent to Belgium for a repair!! it wasn't even 2 months old, was also told in store that although connectivity to a NAS drive wasn't yet possible as it is on SoundTouch speakers “We're sure Bose will look at it” was the response. Since owning it's been positioned in 5 different spots as it's always losing WiFi signal and just cuts out. Overall it's very pricey gear with excellent sound as you'd expect but unfortunately it has to many problems that just keep on putting nails in to my Bose experience.

Just pointless. All other smart speakers in Thisbe price range are fully integrated with new additions. Is there no way to pair to SoundTouch, Bose? It's ironic because I have Echo Dot paired to my SoundTouch system and the excuse from bose is that it's not possible? Would love this in my kitchen, alas I'm likely to sell whole system unless they issue an update?

Just bought this as I like the new feature of the built in Alexa, however it's going back as I can't conect it to any of my SoundTouch speakers therefore it's useless to me! Will be changing the house sound system. Bose need to get up to date and make new products compatible to their older products like many other systems available out there or they will lose peoples business!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I trialed the new Bose home speaker through review club. On opening the box the Bose speaker is compact in size, all the bottoms are on top of the unit and all touch sensitive there is a small square screen on the front that tells you what you are listening to. I unpacked the unit and plugged it in following the enclosed instructions, downloading the Bose app on my smart phone and followed the on screen instructions to link my smart home and to my Amazon account to the home speaker. I put my unit on my spare kitchen side and had so much fun selecting songs on my phone and have it play on my home speaker. I chose lots of different music and even on a low setting it was easily heard around the house. I highly recommend the Bose home speaker to everyone.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this about a month ago it has great sound in all the range I found the piano sounded as if it was actually in the room , I personally finding it hard to program it to its full use but I'm in my 70+ yrs and no techno savvy. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ok so my review of this speaker is slightly *tainted by one missing feature but I will come back to that. So straight out of the box and plugged in I eagerly awaited for it to burst into life, I had already downloaded the app so I was ready to play! Set-up process to connect to my wifi was a breeze as are all the Bose products all you have to do is follow the instructions and not jump ahead. So the first thing to do was get some presets programmed and then the music flowed. Now set up its time to have a play, after flicking through the app I found a new feature for Bose, you can actually adjust bass and treble to your liking where as with the Soundtouch products you only had "Bass reduction" this made it very pleasing on the ears for me as I like a good crisp top end and this speaker certainly delivers this! The Alexa feature gets used every morning to check the weather and deliver my news briefing as I make my first coffee of the day, shame Alexa does not interact with my coffee machine :) For those that are worried you are being listened too all the time there is a microphone mute button you can use. The Bose 500 can still be operated by the discrete buttons on the top of the device but a smart phone with the app delivers full functionality easily at your finger tips. You can easily stream audio for music/films/videos from any bluetooth enabled device to deliver rich and full bodied sound. This is perfect for the kitchen when you have mucky/wet hand as it offers totally hands free operation via the built in Alexa. So in summary its a great piece of kit with awesome sound and features. *Alas its sadly lacking integration with my existing Bose products, I have spent (Cant really say exactly how much just in case the wife reads this) good money in furnishing every room with wifi enabled speakers from Bose but sadly this one can't join the party :( Poor show Bose poor show.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just love my new Bose Home Speaker 500. Once again Bose have produced an outstanding speaker at amazing value for money. The Bose Home Speaker 500 looks stylish and delivers amazing sound quality, as you would expect from Bose. It produces perfect sound quality at all volume levels, with no distortion, and is perfect for filling my medium sized living room with music. It can be operated via the Bose Music app as well as via voice control using Amazon's Alexa. Setting it up was simple linking it to either a Bluetooth enabled device (I connected easily to both my iPhone and iPad. In addition you can connect by Wi-fi. I linked to my home network following the simple guide in the Bose App. Once set up streaming music is easy allowing me to play my music and I've used it with Deezer, Spotify, iTunes and Amazon Music. I also found playing audio books delivered high quality spoken word. Having Alexa is a perfect addition, and the Bose Home Speaker 500's built in microphones pick up my voice commands across a room with background noise. In fact it picks up voice commands better than my Amazon Echo. It means I can get many of the Amazon Echo features I enjoy now through a high standard speaker. Alexa controls Amazon Music simply and efficiently. Another great feature I like is the LED screen which displays album covers from compatible album streams. This means I can see at a glance what album the track is from. I can't fault my Bose Home Speaker 500 and give it 5***** well done Bose!!

So many options to connect the speaker it's either Bluetooth, airplay2 and also have aux in 3.5mm jack @ the back. The Bose apps is also very handy and easy to navigate. The most catching features that people should consider buying this product is the ability to add a Bluetooth speaker and play your music at the same time. I tried this to my LG soundbar SL5Y and it works perfect it adds more bass and dynamics. So playing music from Spotify then connect my Bose Home 500 via AirPlay or thru Spotify connect! Perfect..,
