Soundbar 900

Dave October 23, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this about a month ago and I am over the moon with its performance , its styling and everything else, except for ONE thing. Alexa would not work and I could not work out why. In conversation with a friend, I happen to mention a red standby light on the front. Anybody but anybody would take that as a "power on " light, my friend did some research, and that red light is a microphone mute button. Hey presto alexa works fine now. I really think Bose should look at this seriously. Apart from that it's brilliant.

Good improvement over the soundbar 700

Johhny November 21, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ok,so I have been using the soundbar 900 for a few days now and I like to think I've seen what it's capable off in both movies and listening to music.Sorry don't own a game console so I can't comment on gaming experience. Overall I think it's a great bit of kit which the same as the soundbar 700 has that built quality that you really only get with Bose. As I already owned the soundbar 700 for the past 2.5 years,my biggest concern was whether this was worth upgrading for??I have looked at a few reviews but there wasn't a lot out there to help me in making this decision.Once I decided to go for the 900 and after using this for a few days I decided to take the soundbar 700 in one of the bedrooms upstairs. It was only when I listened back to the 700 that I realised what an improvement the new 900 soundbar is over the existing model. The introduction of Dolby Atmos does make a difference and whilst It won't give the exact movie experience that you get at the cinema it comes very close!!With the new soundbar 900 the soundstage is a LOT wider than the 700 and you do notice the new upfiring speakers doing their bit. Now I must confess that I've also got the 900 connected to not one but two base module700 subwoofers and the 300 invisible surround speakers(soon to be replaced with the 700 surrounds or hopefully some new upfiring surrounds from Bose) and the hole set up is just out of this world.I mean, words don't really do it justice and one has to listen to it to appreciate just how cinema like the hole set up is.But even if all the other accessories are removed leaving the bar on its own it's still one impressive bit of kit. There are however 2 small issues that irritate me a bit.Number one is the new remote control on the 900….what was Bose thinking off when introducing this cheap remote??!!!Most of us I guess will be watching a movie in the evening and whilst the old remote would lit up every time you picked it up,the new one doesn't.Yes it's smaller but in my opinion it's a massive downgrade from the previous 700 soundbar.I am now using the TV remote to control the bar as it's own remote is useless to me. The other issue is the dialogue mode which the same as the 700 it enhances the dialogue so it can be heard in action packed scenes if that's what you prefer.Whilst on the 700 this adjusted perfectly and whenever I had it switched on it provided a good balance between the actual sound and the voices of the actors, with the new 900 it's too much of a difference. With it switched off everything sounds as it should but if you really want to hear the dialogue a bit better and once switched on it reduces everything else and sacrifices all the other sounds just for the sake of the voice/dialogue.I just keep mine off. All in all if you like myself already own the 700 and are thinking of upgrading I would say it's worth it and aside from the silly remote you are definitely purchasing and improved product!!!

A great sound bar and accessories

Trucker December 13, 2021

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Have been researching current dolby atmos technology sound systems to replace a "turn of the century" receiver I have. As a trial, I initially purchased a refurbished small Bose TV soundbar: I was impressed with the clarity and quality of sound being projected. So, as a Christmas present, I purchased the Soundbar 900, with bass module 700 and surround speakers. As advertised, everything out of the box was super easy to set up, pairing the various peripherals with the Soundbar was a synch - the Bose Music prg was a great help. I am totally awed by the sound quality of the Soundbar 900, as compared to the small Bose TV soundbar, not to mention the crackling speakers of my old system. The size of the Soundbar is great, complements well the 70 inch TV. I had no issues at all switching from watching the TV, then connecting to Youtube, or the Apple app, even the sound quality of movies on CD ROMs improved drastically from the regular speakers I had before Couple things I was surprised about: - the 35mm cable is not included with the bass module to connect it to the Soundbar 900, and must be purchased separately - it's like buying a car, but you can't use it when purchased, because the steering mechanism must be purchased separately - the picture on your site does not do justice to the size of the surround speakers - they are tiny!!! - there is only 1x HDMI outlet on the soundbar 900, should be at least 2 or 3 - set up of the remote - having to go into the Bose Music app, instead of using the Soundbar 900 remote, to control bass, treble

Blown Away by the sheer quality!

j19vfc March 12, 2022

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wow just wow.. if you are looking for spectacular cinema sound with a design to fit any environment then look no further that this Bose Smart Soundbar 900. At first I was a little dubious, how can a soundbar be better than the 5.1 surround system I already had. Having used the Bose 900 on a daily basis now there is no going back. I am simply blown away with the build quality, the style and of course the power of the unit to deliver such high quality sound. Yes it lacks the deeper base (I only have the soundbar – base module available separately) but in honesty it does not need it. The quality of the sound is exceptional, you are able to hear voices in a crystal clear format using the dialogue mode (useful for when the kids are asleep) and music is a sheer joy to listen to. Movies sound fantastic and I've only ever been brave enough to turn the volume up to half way. Set up was straight forward and simple, as is the app that you are able to use to fine tune the device (worked on my android phone without issues). The remote is basic but still has the key features to operate the device. It also has a really nice feel to it. The one area I found was a little disappointing was in the options available to deliver Dolby Atmos. This is done via a HDMI cable connection but I had to use optical via the sky box as I have both a TV and Projector that I use on a regular basis and did not want to constantly be changing over cables. However if you are not in this dilemma then do not be put off by this observation, you will not be disappointed in the sheer quality of the Bose system. It has a built in Alexa although I did find on occasions this to be less reactive than standalone amazon devices. I have and will continue to recommend this to family and friends, it's a simple must have if you are looking for that home cinema feel!

Great sound

Bazza July 23, 2022

Having been a Bose user for many years, my first system is now 20 years old. I Decided to buy the Bose 900 soundbar. I am not disappointed. Easy to install along with an easy set up process, and of course the sound that is delivered is awesome. Full of detail, clarity and separation of the Center and side channels. Well done Bose

Bose Smart Soundbar 900

maziotrot February 9, 2022

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Starting with the setup, there are no instructions in the box. Fine for someone like me who is confident in dealing with technology, however, not so great for those not too familiar especially with more up to date technology requiring app use etc. The sound bar required an update in order to set up for use. This should have taken around 15-20 minutes although there was no progress bar to show how much longer to go/what percentage had completed. I began the set up, which went smoothly. I set the sound bar up using HDMI rather than Bluetooth as the sound quality is always better cabled, however after reading several other reviews on HDMI vs Optical, I might try Optical as techies recommend it for the best sound experience. On a visual aspect, the sound bar itself is sleek, modern, elegant and looks very expensive. Due to the gloss top finish it will show finger prints but this isn't a problem if you use the control instead of the buttons on the bar. On to the sound - which is exactly as I'd expected from Bose - AMAZING. I set up the ADAPTiQ which optimises the sound from the speaker to give you the best immersive experience. No matter where I sit in the room, the sound bar is just as effective. There is a dialogue mode which is useful as it adjusts the tonal balance to improve the clarity of spoken words. This is something I have been looking for in a sound bar for a very long time because my dad is hard of hearing and has always struggled with speech clarity. It really is a cinema experience in terms of sound, with the right amount of bass for the room I have this in. If it were in a bigger room I would definitely consider purchasing the additional bass module. Now for the extras. Having the added bonus of Alexa has meant I've been able to get rid of one device in the room. It's really useful and was easy to set up. Linking my music app was a seamless process too. Honestly, if you're considering purchasing a sound bar, I would highly recommend the Bose 900. You won't be disappointed.

Exceptional & Beautiful

Dane_1977 April 10, 2022

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the first high end sound bar i have owned, and first impressions were just amazing. The Bose 900 looked great in front of my tv, great build quality and aesthetically very pleaseing to the eye. The best was yet to come. After a software update and bit of setup, I got to power it up and listen. The sound from this soundbar is just immense, from listening to my favourite musical, to the caped crusader, I was completely absorbed by the sound quality, especially when watching UHD movies and if Dolby Atmos was available. The App makes control and configuration of the speaker very simple, and there are not too many cables, which also pleases other members of the household. I was able to listen to music on my phone via the speaker, and the one of the most pleasing aspects was that everything just worked. Turning the TV on, the speaker came on automatically. My setup was via HDMI cable (eARC) - but you can also connect via an optical fibre cable. Very simple remote, although this is hardly used. Overall, this is a great sound bar, that looks neat and tidy in your living room, and can be enjoyed by all the family. It is a reasonable investment but worth it in my opinion, and highly recommended. 5*

Exceptional Sound but finicky settings

Rudiger December 4, 2021

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Soundbar and Sub combo. Setup was easy, and sound is amazing, truly amazing. crystal clear, no vibration whatsoever.., no matter how loud you go. Watching movies is also awesome, sound is so realistic and completely changes the expericne. Bose app is pretty straightforward and easy to use. Only thing that seems to be wring is that when set to auto-wake with optical signal, the soundbar/sub doesn't power on, tv says switching to external speakers and then no sound comes out. tried everything, including CEC settings, but the Bose remote keeps switching the tv off. Had to disconnect the HDMI, disable auto shutoff, and control everything manually; works, shouldn't have to do this though.

Average Soundbar with HALF BRAIN DEAD AMAZON ALEXA

FedUp November 7, 2021

I bought the soundbar 900 a week ago to replace my ageing Soundbar 300. The sound quality is good, the Dolby Atmos is brilliant, the finish quality is phenomenal. Disappointed with the 900, it has no HDMI inputs (soundbar 300 has it), no DTS support, has no Networking Attached Storage (NAS) support (soundbar 300 has it), Cheap-looking little remote control and has a half brain dead Amazon Alexa built-in (Alexa works only with half of the basic skills) what a joke from Bose? The asking price of the 900 does not justify it, merely it's just another Bose 700 or 300 with just 2 upwards firing speakers. I am considering returning the 900 and going back to the enjoyable soundbar 300 if there will not be any measure upgrade.
