Everything you need for an amp installation w Boss quality products Arrive sooner than expected
I bought a $10 kit for my 17-year-old Honda, looking for something budget-friendly. However, the kit wasn't vehicle-specific, so I had to buy additional terminals to connect the wires properly. I also purchased a better grommet and zip ties, opting to use T-Tap connectors instead of the ones provided. I had to tap into the cigarette lighter for power as there was no dedicated cable for the amp. The thick RCA heads made it challenging to slide between the car trim; a thinner design would have been better.
The BOSS kit is a great value for its price. It includes everything needed for installing a subwoofer, amplifier, and enclosure. The wires are larger than needed for most setups. The kit also comes with a plastic sheathing for protection. Minor issues include thin RCA cable ends that may need bending for a secure connection, a lack of extra connectors, and just enough power cable for certain vehicle setups.
I found this speaker kit suitable for a 300RMS speaker. I've used it with a fosgate wedge amp/speaker combo twice. I suggest opting for a different brand for higher power consumption as there are kits of similar price but significantly better quality. After comparing, I won't purchase this kit again. The wire thickness is somewhere between 12 gauge and 4 gauge, slightly thicker than 12 gauge. I prefer InstallGear as my new brand for 4 gauge wire.
The product arrived on time. The wiring kit seemed opened but had all the components. I connected it immediately. The next day, my subwoofer began malfunctioning. I discovered a loose RCA cable in the trunk with a broken plastic connector. Upon inspection, I found the other RCA cable was also damaged. This has never happened to me before, despite having installed systems in multiple cars. The RCA cables appear to be of low quality.
The wire I received wasn't 4 gauge throughout, only the ends were. I needed 4 ends instead of 3 for positive and ground connections. I had to use an 8 gauge wire instead and buy 8 gauge ends to finish the project. It needs internal review to match the description accurately.
The split loom tubing is very thin and offers minimal protection. The RCA cable insulation is fragile and prone to tearing. The power wire strands are delicate and the jacket is suspect. The splices are cheap and lack heat shrink. I opted to use different splices with built-in heat shrink. It's more cost-effective to buy wire from West Marine for better quality.
I purchased the Boss KIT2 and KIT10 based on positive reviews but was disappointed. The kits had less copper than advertised, low-grade fuses, and were overrated. I switched to Belva BAK42 and BAK82 kits, which had more wire, better quality, and ANL fuses. The Belva kits were a better value for the price. Don't make the same mistake I did with Boss kits. Check out my comparison video for more details.
I bought a BOSS Audio Kit to install with a new stereo and other components. It shorted out after a few minutes, damaging the stereo. The manufacturer blamed the damage on the BOSS RCA Interconnect Cable. I requested a refund from BOSS, but was only offered a used stereo as replacement. Despite providing pictures of the defective cable, BOSS declined any refund. I had to buy a new stereo and cable kit and reinstall everything. I was disappointed with the experience and will not buy from BOSS again.
