I bought these to upgrade the "stock" sound system in my car.... Not gonna win any stereo competitions with these but they get the job done with good overall performance.... proof that you don't need to spend a fortune to have a "good" sounding system in your car......
Well built . Slim design for easy installation on car door and the covers look cool , so if they don’t fit under the stock door speaker covers you can cut the stock one out and the boss speaker covers look cool and modern. Awesome and perfect.
I am not an audio specialist so don't take my review as the one stop source for all things speaker related. Simply documenting my experience with these speakers. My reason for getting new speakers was simply to replace the outdated and blown out speakers on a 21 year old Honda Odyssey van. The Boss website says that these are drop in replacements that "fit my ride". After looking at the blown out stock speakers and comparing them to the pictures of the Boss units, I could tell they probably weren't going to fit like the old ones. I got the first set of them in the mail today and as expected they didn't align with the original mounting holes or peg. Thankfully the door material is regular plastic so making new holes wasn't hard. Even tightened down as much as possible (without bending the frame) the speakers do not lay flat in the recess and that's due to the small raised notches that the old speakers used for alignment points. Still they work fine and I can even put the factory cover over them. Didn't end up using the included covers since these are hidden speakers in the front doors. I got the back set to but they will be here later, maybe tomorrow. So for now I have unhooked and removed the back ones and just running the two front speakers until the other ones arrive. From my lack of understanding I figure running 200W speakers with the original 15W's wouldn't be a good idea, but maybe that doesn't matter at all. They are very loud but don't expect to much bass, they are just mid-ranges after all. Compared to the dried out and blow apart ones that I removed the Boss CH6500's are a massive upgrade for a very reasonable price. I was concerned about taking off the OEM connectors but found it easy to install without them. They do come with a length of speaker wire and the female spade connectors, attached on one end, so all I had to do was cut the OEM connector off, shave the insulation off of the wires, twist them together, and wrap tightly with electrical tape. It's what I have on hand but if I do get static or intermittent sound problems then I'll get some wire nuts and secure them better. Seems fine so far and am looking forward to hearing how it sounds when all four channels are in use at the same time. It's already a lot louder and more robust with only the two in the front. With a Boss single din head unit, harness, and 4 speakers I was able to improve upon the old setup for about 130 bucks. I feared it was going to be very expensive but prices for car audio have come down a lot in 20 years and now my old van can connect using Bluetooth to phones and MP3 players so I don't have to listen to the radio and their "narrative" all the time anymore. In the future I might update the double din bay with a touch screen based head unit, and phase out the single din unit I just got. The drive to get bluetooth in the car lead me here, the speakers were just an extra thing to do, mainly because they needed it, and because I wanted to.
I had doubt until I installed these speakers in my Nissan Altima 1998. But I was happy with the sound quality. They dint fit exactly but I managed to fit them with some dragging and banging. Now they work great . It was cheap and its working good and beyond expectancy.
These put a great sound and used these to replace some old 6x9 and these are great because they are two way rather than the basic one way 6x9 that was in place.
I actually just received the speakers today, took a quick look at them and then went out and put them in my car (2006 Chevy Cobalt). They were easy to install, had to splice some wires but its all good. I had to drive holes (this is easy with a drill and a bit) for them too because factory speakers in a Cobalt only have one hole for a screw. I then turned the radio on and the speakers came to life, they sound great. But they don't have much bass, so if thats what your looking for, this isnt it. But I plan on replacing the back speakers with Kickers so its all good. Great value! They work great.
This set of speakers was purchased for a project other than a car stereo. One of these speakers was used to replace a dead one in a vintage piece of police radio equipment. The manufacturer has thoughtfully retained the standard EIA mounting circle dimension, so this speaker dropped right into the spot occupied by a Motorola speaker from the 1940s. The build and sound quality of this speaker is unusually good for the very low price.
They look good quality and the price is good, now let's test how strong they are 😁
installed on a corolla 2006..sound great..if swapping speakers..i recommend just to rip out the old speakers without removing the housing....speakers can easily be screwed in with metal screws.to the original speaker housing.......anyways..original speakers aren t worth anything...sound great....good clean crisp sound....
If a person's radio is built for loud music, pay more for speakers who can pack a punch...I purchased and installed 4 of these speakers, and the 2 installed in the rear deck of my car are blown; immediately after installation, I put the music up and the speaker sounds bad with the bass pumping. Only use these speakers with stock radios or radios that are not too powerful.
