This pepper jelly is so delicious on a Triscuit or other cracker with cream cheese and a dollop of this on top. I had forgotten just how great this actually tastes since it is hard to find good Hot Pepper Jelly. I think it actually tastes best when cold from the frig. It is just hot enough to be great for all ages over about 5 years old and not too hot for older adults. We love it!
This pepper jelly has a great sweet-and-spicy balance — enough jalapeño heat to keep it interesting without overwhelming the sweetness. I warmed it slightly, poured it over a block of cream cheese, and served it with plain crackers. It disappeared quickly and my guests loved it. It pairs well with an off-dry Riesling — especially one from Washington State. This wine balances the heat from the jalapeños and the richness of the cream cheese without tasting sugary. Keep a jar in the pantry, along with a box of sturdy crackers. It makes an effortless appetizer for unexpected guests… or to treat yourself. I'm going to try it as a ham glaze next.
I have purchased several brands of hot pepper jelly in the past, so when I tasted this brand, I knew immediately there was something in it that was making it taste different. Checking the ingredients, I found it .... onion! No other brand that I've ever purchased has onion in the hot pepper jelly. Just almost inedible.
This didn't taste at all like the hot pepper jelly I've had in the past. I love putting it on cream cheese to be eaten with crackers and bringing it for gatherings, but this brand had such a strong bitter/chemical taste, and also kind of a muddy flavor. It didn't taste right at all and was so expensive that I don't think I'll try to make this again.
This is not jelly. It is not jalapeño jelly. The consistency is more like jam. It has a little spice to it but it does not have a jalapeño taste. It is definitely not HOT. I'm not sure what other flavor it's supposed to be, mostly because it doesn't have any flavor.
Well, the green Jalapeno jelly I bought wasn't hot enough to suit me and neither is the red. I detect notes of bacon in it. Seriously. It's alright, but I guess iff I want to fall in love with a Jalapeno jelly, I will have to make my own recipe. I'm s good enough cook and I have been canning for a while, so . . .
I would purchase this by the gallon if possible. It has tremendous flavor - with just barely a little heat. I usually buy two jars at a time - to assure it is always in my pantry. I use this daily - by spreading on 6 buttery crackers as a food of choice - to take with my medication.
You might naturally think that jelly and jalapeno would be something that wouldn't mix well but surprisingly the contrast between the spicy peppers and the sweet jelly is actually quite tasty. I found a recipe for ham sandwiches using goat cheese and this jelly on the bun along with ham and greens of your choice. The contrast in the flavors is quite yummy. A little goes a long way this small jar does quite a few sandwiches.
This product is hot, no flavor but hot. A tiny sweet and the texture is awful; unspreadable, it's one tick from being a gummy or fruit roll up. Melting was impossible. While using with cream cheese; it just sits there. no spreading w/o breaking cheese. it's super thick, not at all like jelly or preserves. It's more like old school paste; actually paste has a better texture. Don't waste your money.
When you open the jar, all you smell is REALLY REALLY old onions...that's pretty much all you taste too. NO thank you! So disappointing. The ingredients list says dehydrated onions...It tastes like they were dehydrated by chopping them up and just leaving them on the counter until they went past rotten to dried up. So disappointing.
