While the box tilt may bug the OCD in you, unleashing and unlimber the secrets layer by layer will make you want to escape to this line!
This game was FABULOUS once we figured out how to play. Before that we almost threw it into the trash! You have to forget about other escape rooms in a box and carefully read the instructions. It is a little confusing but one you get the hang of it the game was exciting, engaging, fun, creative, puzzling, dynamic and really quite wonderful. So glad we perservered! We played with two games, one in NYC and the other in Maryland. Then we used the Portal to play together. It worked GREAT! Because it wasn't timed those with processing issues were able to enjoy it as well. We spent 3 hours playing but it didn't feel like 3 hours! A real bang for your buck! It worked so well that we have already purchased the other game - Breakin to Area 51! Can't wait for them to arrive! You really can not go wrong with buying this game.
Hi guys, reading and watching reviews of this game I think it is awesome, but still have not played it. HELP PLEASE, I got this game for my birthday but all in German language, rules, cards, etc. If someone would scan or take photos of cards so I can print it to play it would be great, I have only found rules in English online, but cant find cards anywhere.. HELP me play it, thanks
This game is very fun and engaging for my family of four. We had a blast playing it the other night, although I'd give it more of 3-4 out of 5 for difficulty. We had to use the hint cards a few times. The best part of the game was this new concept of breaking in, as opposed to escaping, and followed a story arc, almost like being within a drama. I loved that it's a new style, and I hope there are follow-ups that stay in this vein. I saw that others had a hard time with the puzzles, and we did have to focus on the clues the whole time--about 3 hours--even to answer some of the later puzzles. That's probably why I'd say it's more of a 3-4 out of 5 for difficulty. Overall though, a very immersive and fun take on the escape room genre!
A bit complicated to set up but very fun game!
We're a game playing family and the instructions should be clear enough that we shouldn't have to look elsewhere how to play. Most of us are really good at problem solving and puzzles, but the instructions weren't at all clear. My 16 year old nephew was so excited to play this, he's been wanting to play one of these type of games for a while. We spent a lot of time trying to figure the game out. Reading and rereading the directions. My nephew ended up taking it home because after about an hour of getting no where, we needed to take a break from trying to figure out Break-In. It's a really neat idea, but the directions aren't helpful or clear. For example, it talks about the ""tools"" but tools aren't listed in the contents. I assumed they were talking about the cards, but we weren't sure. Also it wasn't clear how to use the solution sticks. I looked and saw there was clues on the website (and see there is video too.) My nephew ended up finishing the game at home, but needed to use a lot of the hints on the website. Giving and showing examples in the instructions could be helpful when describing how to play the game. This is supposed to be for ages 10+. A 12 yr old, 16 yr old, and several adults couldn't figure out how to play without looking online for a lot more additional information. When you're trying to do something as a family unplugged and without devices, it's frustrating when you have to turn to technology for a game. I received this game for free in exchange for feedback. I wish I could leave a more positive review, but this product needs improvement. PlayMonster has great products, and I think this can be too...if they can make clear instructions included with the product.
The concept is interesting, but the instructions and information you are given do not always match up and are unclear. Item labels and descriptions are not consistent. A wider play test audience should have been considered. Note that this group plays a LOT of escape games and dies escape rooms as well.
This game is not family friendly! One person ended up doing it while the rest of us sat there bored out of our minds! It was difficult to figure out and the clue pictures were so small you could hardly see them. I would rather sleep than play this game!
I typically love games like this, but this one made no sense. The board is too small to see the details they expect you to find. There is no clear indication of how you are suppose to progress through the game and the puzzles expect you to know what they are looking for without telling you what you need to find. In the end, we tore the game apart to get to the finale because we could not take the frustration and anxiety of the nonsense game anymore. Spoiler Alert: The ending is not fun either. Nothing good about this game - save your money.
Promising concept. Terrible execution. Even after reading hints and watching solutions some puzzles still make no sense as the cards are not drawn to scale. Very wordy clues with lots of useless / irrelevant material. Do not purchase unless you want to spend the rest of your life in prison.
