Bridgestone e6

Josh October 2, 2016

I was first introduced to the game of golf my freshman year of high school. The sport was very intriguing but seemed almost impossible to be decent at. Throughout the first couple years of my leisure hobby, it didn't matter to me what golf ball I used for the game. I would hack away and pray that I don't lose it in the rough or in some wretched pond. A dozen golf balls would quickly disappear from my bag and leave me feeling inadequate to the game. It wasn't until a couple more years of diligent practice would I then immensely improve and pay much more attention to what type of gear I was using. I needed to find a ball that was affordable and well suited for my ability. The key factors for me were the functionality, color, impact, durability, and price. I tried many different brands and models including the most highly recommended golf ball in the world: Titleist ProV1. My favorite golf ball after all this searching ended up being the Bridgestone e6. It fit all of my criteria and serves as the only ball I purchase when I go golfing. Functionality: The actual functionality of a golf ball is very important and is sometimes overlooked due to the widespread thought that every ball is the same. I am still not the most accurate golfer so the “e6 Technology” Bridgestone had integrated into this product makes it a perfect fit for me. The technology I am talking about is the anti-spin mantle which decreases the spin the ball has. This leads to a much straighter shot and results in less error when the ball is struck incorrectly. This really assisted the nasty slice I had developed throughout the beginning years. Color: The color of a golf ball is important to me for several reasons. The e6 model offers three different colors ranging from white, orange, and yellow. The reason that color is important to me is visibility and originality. Orange is my favorite model color because it's always the most visible golf ball on the course. When you land a ball in the rough, it becomes a lot easier to located when looking for it because of its vibrant color. Another point is when I play in a tournament and everyone participating must mark their ball uniquely to know ownership during the round, I don't have to worry about this because it uniquely sets itself apart from all the regular white colored balls. Impact: Overall feel on impact when the ball is struck has also made the list of things I value in a ball. The impact when you hit a softer ball feels much nicer than a hard cased one. This is the one function that the e6 doesn't have that I wish it did. It feels more like hitting a rock on the spectrum than a soft plastic covered bouncy ball. The hard shell can also make playing off season in the soft, wet ground a pain. The ball with stick right into the ground sometimes, not giving the bouncing effect you get more often with the softer cased balls. Durability: In contrast with the previous point, the hard cased shell does have its benefits as well. The hardened shell makes this model an immortal tank. Most golf balls can get some pretty bad scuffs if you land them even one once onto the cement covered cart path at any course. The e6 has got a lot of durability making it very difficult to put any kinds of blemishes on this golf ball. I really like this aspect because it makes the ball last much longer. Price: As a young college student who can barely afford rent, food, and gas; price is the most important factor for me. Bridgestone is priced at around $23 for a dozen at most golf shops and online stores. This is nearly half as much in price as the critically acclaimed Titleist ProV1 that most professionals use. It's not the cheapest ball on the market, but the e6 is produced at a fair price for the quality and reviews it holds.
