Heat lamps and chicken heaters cause burns on chicks and some can ever start fires. This is a totally safe and efficient way to keep your chicks warm. It is kind of small. Ten day- old standard chicks will do fine for about a week. Depending on ambient temperatures, this may be all they need but if it is cold this size will be too small as they get bigger.
Works great! Our chicks love it. We like that it's adjustable and warm, not hot.
works great for up to 10 ckicks
Works great for baby chicks in the brooder and is much safer than a heat lamp.
This heater is a great choice! A very energy efficient option to warm your chicks. Although, I can NOT see 20 chicks fitting under this heater as advertised.
My new baby chicks love this. They go under to sleep and come out to eat/drink. I feel much safer with this vs a heat lamp!
Works great but we needed to purchase a second unit at week 3 because 14 chicks no longer fit under this brooder.
This is a great product for starting chicks. I have used it many times. I ordered this one for my good friend as a gift and the box arrived completely smashed and in the original vendor box with no protective shipping box. Not a great delivery for a gift!
This is my first heating plate, and I don't think it's worth $70 dollars. It doesn't really keep my chicks warm. I have to use a heating pad underneath to keep them warm. The 2 stars are because I love that it doesn't emit light, since I'm keeping my chicks in my room at night. It helps me sleep, but my chicks had some chilly nights before I realized it wasn't keeping them warm enough. They started to sneeze, so I checked the temperature under the brooder. It was only 78 degrees! In the future, I might try another brand, or stick with the reliable red lamp!
I did not get this item and I don't know who did.
