Brinsea Ovation 56 EX fully automatic egg incubator with humidity control

This is the best incubator I ever used, good hatching ratio. it maintains the temperature and humidity properly, no problems there. It is easy to clean and maintain. No mechanical or electrical problems. It does NOT keep track of the days, so I put a sticky note on it to remind me of the date. The end of the tube floats on top of the water, so I taped a little weight to it to help keep it closer to the bottom of the water bottle. The downside ? The Brinsea incubators are probably the most expensive on the market. (I also have a Chinese incubator - same size. It needs some babysitting - adding a few drops of water 2-3 times a day to keep the humidity level at an acceptable level. Too much water, and the humidity will go too high. No concern with my Brinsea 56 EX - it does most of the work properly. Happy hatchings !

Works excellent! I've been incubating for 9yrs and was hesitant at getting one from Walmart but the incubator is wonderful.

I have hatched two batches of Rhode Island Red chicks with a 88 and 90 percent hatch rate out of the Ovation EX 56 model. It held the temperature: set at 99.5 F. to one tenth of a degree 99.6 F. The humidity is also fairly accurate but it is slow to add water: the pump drops one drop at a time. When you 1st set it up; fill the silicone tube with water before you connect it to the pump as it will take quite awhile for the pump to draw the water from the reservoir one drop at a time. Hint; suck water through the tube like it were a straw. After day 18 of incubation remove the egg carriers, place the eggs in the bottom of the incubator and fill the two troughs with warm water and cover them with the grates so as to raise the humidity for hatching. This raised my humidity levels to 70 plus percent. In the 1st batch I lost one chick to (Shrink wrapping) as the humidity was too low and I opened the cover and lowered it even more. Cleaning the incubator isn't too bad but you will need a small Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws. Overall this is not a cheep product. But it is a well designed product. I also purchased two EcoGlow brooders. They also seem to be well designed. I like the low watt draw (18 watts) and the safety of not burning my house down like the heat lamps can do.

This was returned. The humidity pump doesn't sense water level and can flood floor. But even before the humidity pump can work, you have to connect a small diameter silicon hose to a plastic "T" and I found this to be an exercise in patience and frustration. I love Brinsea and have recommended Brinsea for years but this was a disappointment.

This was a big purchase but I thought it would be worth it, with years of great hatches. I have had great hatches the incubator worked as expected. This year the turner has stopped working. The motor is making the noise as if turning but nothing is turning. I have tried contacting Brinsea without success. Very disappointed... and to top it off I bought a second Brinsea in the spring. If it only last for a year it's not worth the money.

Ordered this Ovation 56 EX with humidity pump and used it for one hatching and then the humidity pump went out. It cost me $44 to send the top part of the incubator back for repair. Also what isnt in any of the descriptions about this incubator is that you need to spend more money for hatching mats and new silicone tubing.Beware of this incubator, it is a waste of money for an expensive incubator.
