Great product
I have been using the Brita filter system for some years now and it really does improve the quality of your tap water. I would encourage everyone to use it. You will never have to buy bottle water again
We were spending a lot of money on bottled water, plus we lived in an apartment. Our fridge is not the kind with a water dispenser and installing anything into an apartment is generally a no-no. However, this system doesn't really do any real damage (two screw holes) and it can be uninstalled and moved if needed. It was super easy to install, I did it myself in about 10 minutes. We've been using this system for a year now and we love it. Our water tastes great so we drink a lot more than when we were buying bottled water. It has also improved the taste of our coffee & tea as well as our mix-it-yourself juice drinks, water flavoring drinks AND our food that we cook in water like noodles or veggies. We've ended up replacing the filter every 6 months. I do mark it on the calendar but I've forgotten each time and each time we can actually taste when the filter stops working. It's been dead on 6 months each time. My only complaint is that the cold water side of our kitchen sink doesn't have as much water pressure as it did without the filter system. We've lived with it for a year now and gotten used to it. The system is cheap to maintain and saves us loads of $$$$ so we think it's worth it.
I bought this to filter the water supply to my ice maker. I had to buy additional hardware to connect the in and out of the filter. The online description could have been better. The ice tastes much better.
Works like it says. Not for high pressure water systems.
The filtering of this unit works very well, and lives up to the BRITA reputation. It was very easy to install, and I like the quarter turn filter change. The only problem with it is that the supply lines where they hook to the unit are entirely to small,l and greatly reduces the flow of water coming from the faucet. If you already have poor water pressure I would highly recommend NOT getting this. Because of the water flow issue I am looking into changing to a whole house unit, and eliminating this one.
The thread where it connects to the cold water shut off valve didn't fit and it's leaking. In the picture you can see that the brita, white plastic screw part is bigger/longer thread than the standard shut off valve part. Due to the brita part being bigger, the rubber o-ring doesn't reach to insulate the connection so it's leaking. I went out of my way to try and make it work, by going to ACE hardware store, but they had all shut off valves standard which was the same and wasn't going to fit.
Old faucet type would filter lead, this says that it doesn't.
This kit only one fitting in it and that forces you to filter all of your water and not just water for drinking. That shortens filter life and costs more for filters over the course of the year. I will be getting a different one. I got this as a gift and can't use it.
