Just finished installing the new fan, it works better than expected and was a simple install.

Electrician just installed a Model 509 fan, replacing an existing Homart 10" fan we've had since the last 1960s. MUCH quieter and more efficient than the old one! Fan is installed approx. 10 feet above the kitchen floor (high tin ceilings) in a 225 sq ft room. We have a solid, wood frame home built in 1923 that muffles the sound. I suspect that many of the noise complaints listed here are due to newer plasterboard walls and lower-to-floor installations, with the walls acting as a sounding board and causing them to resonate. Hope this one lasts as long as the old one!

I use this ventilation fan to cool my furnace room. It works well and so far is a good product.

The fan works just fine. Sometimes the flapper outside sticks and don't open right away. The installer has been made aware of this problem.

The finished product looks very nice and clean. Broan calls out the noise level in its comments and they are telling the truth. My biggest complaint lies with large companies like this who put no end user consideration into the installation instructions. They should be using end users like myself to proof all instructions for clarity and completeness. (Yes Broan, I'd be interested if you are willing to take this suggestion seriously). There were 4-5 simple call outs that would have saved a lot of installation time.

very noisy, grill broke apart after a couple months, though was a two speed. operated as a single speed.

Incredibility noisy!!!!!!!!!!! Moves a lot of air but is toooooo loud to use.
