I love this machine!! How it stitches effortlessly through the material is amazing! I had an earlier version for 12 years and I worked it to death, poor thing but I feel I got a great machine that could put up with my hard core sewing. Yet here I am with this new version and every time I see it just takes my breath away! Now I did have a bit of frustration with the new way to thread and fill bobins, but its a good and much needed change. I hope to have this machine for years to come.
I've just begun to use my machine, but am already impressed by the smoothness of the stitching. Also, just love the auto needle threader!
I bought this machine as my very first sewing machine ever. I absolutely love it and would definitely recommend it to anyone! I have learned so many new things with this machine, from how to sew buttons and button holes to how to use each stitch and what they are used for. Attached is a photo is my latest project, paper piece quilting. It's a Harry Potter bookshelf quilt. I haven't finished it yet, as you can see, but I'm just thankful to be able to create it. All thanks to this sewing machine!
I'm a believer in Brother products and they have stood behind their products ever since I first started purchasing them 20 yrs ago. I absolutely love this machine. It's simple and runs like a dream. Even my fax/copier of 20 yrs still works like a dream. If taken care of, they can last for many great years. They haven't failed me yet and when I've had questions, their support teams have been wonderful. So, I highly recommend this and other products of theirs. For anyone missing something purchased from a box. Just give the store a call to correct the matter. Just don't blame Brother or give them a rating they don't deserve. And if the store of your purchase isn't any help, I'm sure those at Brother can help you get what you need. Save your purchase receipt. Happy customer of many years. CathyS
I would give this item 5 stars when working on basic stitching settings. Several times when I would try the more intricate patterns the machine would jam or the thread would be completely pulled through the needle and it would sew with no thread. Otherwise, this machine has worked for everything I have needed it to. Great value.
My daughter loved the sewing machine but delivery was not acceptable. I ordered it a week before my daughter's birthday and it took two weeks after for the delivery. I was misinformed as to when I was to received it. If I new it was taking this long, I would have purchased it somewhere else.
The feed is great, which is the reason for the 2 stars. However, there are really no other redeeming factors about this machine. My biggest gripe is the tension on the machine. It's very difficult to get the needle tension to cooperate with the bobbin tension. The machine also stopped grabbing the zigzag stitches, which even more so reinforces a problem the machine seems to have with its timing. The stitches are also uneven, especially if you change speeds mid-sew. A sewing machine should not do that, despite the speed. You also control the speed entirely with the foot pump, which I don't care for either. Personally, I'm not too concerned about the stitch selection, but more the quality of the stitches the machine produces (because otherwise, what's the point of the sewing machine) and this machine isn't it. I would spring for a machine that costs a bit more, but can actually do the job.
absolutely hate this machine and wish I had done more research. I have had this machine about 5 months and within the first week of using (on knit fabric) my needle broke, then it proceeded to eat my fabric, finally fixed that issue and now my zigzag stitch continues to miss stitches it will zigzag a few times and then have a flat area. My back stitch does not work at all when using #3 stretch stitch. awful. wish I could sell it and get a better machine.
From the day I bought this machine it has been nothing but trouble. It wasn't even put together correctly when I got it. Kept breaking needles and it turns out that the screw holding the bobbin case down was missing. After fixing that, it was fine for about 3 days and then the tension kept messing up. I rewound the bobbin, changed the thread and the needle and it still won't sew correctly. Threading tension is always off and troubleshooting does not fix it. I have spent more time fixing this piece of junk than I have sewing.
This machine is AWFUL. Locks up, throws error codes, after 11 months, it went out of timing. Finally got it back out, the machine was cleaned, still throwing the same errors, and now the it doesn't stitch the "style" chosen. I will NEVER buy another Brother machine. The frustration is not worth it.
