Don't think this machine is just for beginners. I've been sewing for 70 years and I remember how excited I was when Mom bought a machine that back stitched and I've bought two other machines over the years. I bought this one because I wanted the blanket stitch for quilting but using this machine I realized how much fun and easy sewing could be. The list of features it has is amazing, every feature I could ever want or need. I love the start and stop button, needle up and down, needle threader, and the drop in bobbin. All things that make sewing easier and makes me want to sew every day. I bought this one for our 27year old granddaughter. I am also guiding our eight year old granddaughter to cut and sew her first quilt. This machine is so easy to use for a beginners that it encourages success. The speed control is perfect for a beginner or difficult stitching for anyone. That feature alone gives confidence to all sewers regardless of experience. This is a wonderful machine at a great price.,
I read all the reveiws b4 i purchase anything, as well as really study the product on other sites! Walmart always has the better deals. I always had Singers, but i must say this Brother is the best 4 the $$ IMO..! I haven't sewn in many yrs. and lost my Singer along the way when moving which was ok w/ me sense it never sewed a straight stitch anyway. This Brother 6000i sews so straight & smooth and quiet not like my Singers b4 this! It also sews Denim! I'm not an avid sewer, but have made alot of Disco style clothing back in the 80's This was simple 2 operate, unlike what some Viewers said so if i can do it so can u! It also has a needle threader which is a deff nice feature! The only con i found is the lite should be brighter has a blueish tint 2 it so u will need a Lamp, but that's no biggie 2 me! Walmart is very fast in shipping 2 ur home, like w/ then 3 days standard shipping!
In her younger years, my wife used to sew a great deal. As our kids grew up, the need was not as great and after a great many years her old trusty Singer Sewing machine just finally gave up the ghost.......now as grandchildren have come along, suddenly there is a renewed interest in making things for them and with them. Hence, this new sewing machine arrives at a great time! It has only been in the house a little over a week and already has saved the day on three or four occasions. My wife has stated that she may have to learn all over again as this new machine has so many features that she could only dream of before. With the smile on her face and our grandsons face as she repaired a treasured stuffed bunny rabbit - this machine has already been worth well more than its' cost!
Functions beautifully, lots of features, easy to use right out of the box and shipping was quick. Very user friendly machine and a great price for all it offers! Came with various extras for quilting. I went from a basic mechanical Janome (which has served me well) to this electronic model and I couldn't be happier.
Arrived very quickly with standard shipping. The machine is much lighter weight than my old Singer & very easy to move around. I especially appreciate the needle-threader feature (great for older eyes) & the stitch speed controls. I'm making table toppers with wide lace borders for a wedding & the slow speed enables me to easily sew around the scalloped border of the lace. Bobbin-winding is simple & easy. Initially I had difficulty correctly threading the bobbin thread into the tension slot & I also had to reduce the upper thread tension to prevent thread breakage. The machine manual has a trouble-shooting guide which helped me resolve these issues. Regarding the comment about missing presser feet by another reviewer, most of the accessories are located in a pouch in the removable front left portion of the machine base. I also initially thought these items were missing, until I removed this part to place the wider table base, another feature I enjoy. Overall I find this machine to be a good value.
1. I am a researcher..so I looked at several machines and reviews before deciding on this one. I have also been a craft/home home sewer for 30yrs ...this machine is quite an upgrade for me from my grammas old 2 sttich selection singer!! 2. Brother corp also makes the INNOVUS-40 (dealer machine) & Babylock Machines..just to diff Specifications...having said that dont assume that the CSi6000 is the SAME as either of those 2 machines even tho they are made in same factory. 3. I did hands on test all 3 machines..and in all honesty..they seem to have many features in common.. (the 2 mentioned earlier could be twins except for logo labeling) ....and if price point is a SERIOUS consideration then look at the CSi6000 ....if you want local dealer service as part of package then expect to pay more and purchase from a dealer 3.out of the box this is a light weight machine... fair bit lighter then either of the 2 mentioned above... .given that however the unit seems solid & well built ..I tested & moved the plastic housing around to see if it had any give..it did not..so not sure if the lightwieghtness is a well developed solid plastic housing or lack of internal metal parts...time will tell. 4. great price point and good value for computeriszed sewing machine..this machine come with lots of accessories..probably more that the average user of this machine will need or use. 5. The table feature is awesome and will come in handy for those larger projuects. 6. So far it has sewed anything i have asked of it..hemming jean seams included...and seemed to manage the thickeness just fine..as with any machine sew at a speed apporpriate for the materials. 7. Soem ppl have had tension issues with machine..mostly user oversight RULE called TNT -- thread needle tension ..check each in order .. I will update post in month or so ..by then i hope to have sewn my quilt up..that will be a good test! But for now it seems like awesome machine @ great price ..esp for a beginner/moderate sewer
My fingers are getting a bit too arthritic to keep sewing by hand, so I went surfing on the web to find a sewing machine. When I located the ad for this machine, I was surprised by the price and the list of features. It came with a hard carrying case, 60 built in stitches, oversized table for large projects, a stitch speed slide, automatic threading system, and a built in arm for cuffs and sleeves. It has a super bright light over the work area, too. What's not to like? One of the bet purchases I ever made.
So glad I purchased the CS6000i from Brother. I had picked out a different machine then decided to search the internet for the top 10 sewing machine ratings and this model kept coming up. I changed my mind and went with the Brother and am certainly glad I did! Lots of great features for the price and it sews like a charm!
It is decent. I thought it might be better. I found it hard to thread, it is a good thing that I am an experienced sewer or I would have had trouble understanding the directions on how it is threaded. I has a bit of confusion with the bobbin as well. I found that if someone didn't understand threading the bobbin the might be concerned why the thread kept breaking when threading through the thread. Other than that it is not a bad machine. It is the first time I tried a brother machine. I figured that it couldn't be any worse than any of the other machines that you might want for basic sewing.
I looked forward to using this machine, based on the ratings I had read online, but reality was a different story. This machine is so lightweight, it tipped over a lot. It jammed constantly, and could not sew on thick seams. I do a lot of upholstery work, making seat covers, curtains, etc. and this machine is just not up to the task.
