I have been using it for several years. I have made thousands of copies and the printer works fine. It looks a little clunky, but that's the kind of equipment I prefer. Simple and reliable. It is large and heavy because it is a laser, not an LCD, but it prints fantastically. It is also good for thick paper. Personally, I have used it for up to 300g. maximum.
Fantastic printer, managed to print 100 envelopes in 1/4 of the time of my old relatively fast inkjet printer. By no means is this perfect - you'll not get the same results as a inkjet for colours if you need high quality prints, but it's a completely different type of printing. Really happy with it, was easy to setup on the network and works perfectly with a variety of operating systems on my network.
I originally bought this model a year ago and it recently got zapped during a powerful lightning strike. I liked the printer so much that I bought the same model to replace the original. The colour quality is great. Also, fast duplex printing. The pull out feeder works well for other types of paper and envelopes.
Brilliant printer with duplex (double sided) functionality. Great paper handling with paper tray in body of printer. Fast first page and very fast multiple pages. Good choice of high capacity toner cartridges. Shop around for deals including replacement spare toner cartridges.
This is my second Brother printer as I was delighted with the first... It is small and compact whilst giving good quality at a price you can't argue with!
This printer was the easiest to add to my computer, the quality is very good would recommend anytime.
Pros: can refill toner manually, is very fast, print quality is as good as our previous HP, did I mention you can refill toner manually? (That's why I went with a Brother brand printer.) Cons: once or twice I had to wake it up manually to print from Windows 8.1/10, but it was a very isolated issue, and I've had no problems at all printing from MacOS X, Samsung Galaxy S3 or iPad 2. As for whether I would recommend it to a friend, I already have actually.
This printer is of good quality although the paper drawer is very stiff and I think that it might break when I try to replenish the paper! We added a lower drawer for headed paper which makes it more useful for remote offices. Picks up the network easily and easy to install
This has been the worst printer i've ever owned (my Brother B&W is the best). I cannot get more than 30 pages of color without having a dirty pages, smears, missing color... it's just the most unreliable print system. I even use the most expensive large Brother cartridges... nothing... it's just a bad product.
I had to have tech come out to fix the roller due to over heating, he replaced the unit (very nice), but it is overheating again and printing old copies on my new copy:( I have to call for a tech again.... I have to say that Brother came to my location the 2nd day I called:)
